Generally two stick (I am an SCA guy) is a very tough thing to learn compared to sword and board, in my experience. Some people are good at it, but it is really tough to pull off well. Better than just a single sword, but not much more to say for it.
Then again, no game ever treats shields like a proper weapon. (Thanks, Gygax! ) If I had to pick, I'd take a shield every time, as those buggers can really do some damage, as much as a dagger most of the time.

I am not inclined to mess with the combat rules till I have a number of games under my belt, but giving a shield +1 Fight and Armor and a Dagger +1 fight might be fair. Shields are always better for those that can use them, but many can't so they make do.

I'm just glad that there's no way we're going to get into a gun stock/ammo feed debate in here...

Or ballistae...

I'm thinking we need to start working on the mass battle version of the game

Well I playes about 10 Games without any buying selling/balancing issue. I agree with end of game house rules (limited number of rounds and notcontrolled treasure will not be picked up when opponent either leaves or is killed). Don't forget that campaign end by transcendent will cost you huge amount of money. Also regular deaths of henchmen is costly.

So far I think it's pretty well balanced. But to be honest all of my opponents are roleplayers and weplay ornate like survival RPG lite

This goes back to my earlier post, "I'm loathe to make alterations to a published and playtested ruleset til I have at least a dozen games under my belt."
Far too often I see people who are quick to modify or edit rulesets but who haven't actually played them. Kinda like the subset of gamers who just build army lists but never play games.
