What do you think of them? Personally I think they're rad. Fast and fun where bigger games get bogged down. I feel like the play is more balanced as well (for what it's worth) but maybe that's just because the armies I like perform better.
Necrons are still evil at 1k though.

Well, Necrons will always be evil.
But personally I don't mind the time it takes to play a 2k game, which is the standard up at my shop. 1000 points just isn't enough to play with all the toys you want.

In 1000 point games, winning and losing teams can go back and forth pretty fast, If that makes any sense.
Other than that, I think they're all right.

Just don't play teams of 1k armies that weren't build to work as one.
That just leads to one player getting eliminated early on.

1k is a nice sweet spot where you can bring what you need to field your army, but toss in a little of what you want. All while not being able to include everything, so you need to make some choices. Plays quick too.
Overall I’m a fan.

1000 points is a good amount for smaller games. It's also a lot more friendly for newer players, as it's a lot more balanced than 500 or 750 points.

I enjoy it. The games are usually much faster than a 1500 point game. Some armies are better at lower points, though. Also, you can fall into a rock versus paper match-up very quickly if the other guy brought hordes and you only have anti-tank.
Enjoy it!

my black templar struggle at low point games though. But in general I do like the speed of lower point games. As someone with a wife and a kid, I am sometimes pressed for time and like to get my wargaming fix in quick bursts.

I like 1k games.
They are quick, and previously before unbound and other silly formations it helped to reduce the amount of cheese some armies could field.
My only problems with it are that you can still fit GMC/SHVs, in there, or spam one kind of unit, which owing the the smaller variation in the opposing force makes the game more rock/paper/scissor like, and that fielding my DW force at 1k points is even more masochistic than usual.

1k is really fun, quick and perfect for newer player.
But I love to go for 1500pts games myself. Give me the couple extra points I need to do the stuff I want.
Generally speaking tho, I think it's a matter of army and models. I remember doing mostly 1k or 1250pts game with my ork and it was great (I could play with the list a lot). On the other hand, now that I'm playing Dark Angels, I feel that even 1850 can feel sometime really restricitve in points haha.

1000 is the sweet spot for Sisters - small enough that you can carry your army in a single bag, big enough to get fun stuff in the list.

Renegades can pretty much take lots of different insanely competitive 1k points lists, whereas BA struggle to cover all bases at 1k. That low points level changes the scale of balance between armies (that's not a bad thing imo btw).
I rarely play 1k but I love it when I do, they are so much fun, especially when both players have MSU lists. However, when 1 player has a 600-700pt deathstar or superheavy... it gets very boring very quickly.

We usually play 400-600 points as training games, and 1000-1500 depending on time.
1000 points gives access to most units, but prevents too much big-things spam.

I generally play 1K and 2K. 1K is optimal for a shorter game. I never understood the 1850 pt limit, so we just jumped it to 2K for longer games. I wouldn't mind running a 2.5K or 3K game occasionally though.

i dont play them. too boring not enough randomness and zero tactics. Best list wins every time. in other words the game is decided based on build not play.
we do 1500 for ZM. but since none of our group games the system even at 3k we still only have 6-10 units anyway. Even at 3k games only take about 2-2.5 hours anyway.

My new friends and I play Come the Apocalypse Allie team up. You bring a 1000pt list and partner up with another player who's army is considered Desperate Allies or Come the Apocalypse therefore no synergy or psychic battle brother shenanigans. That means a 2v2 of the most unlikely pairs and you must beware the one eye open rules and the 12" appart deployment buffer. If your side wipes out the opponents, then you must turn on each other and fight 2-3 more turns. ghe game is so quick you can prolong the game a bit. You can even back stab your partner when there is only 1 of the 2 opponents left.

I like 1,000 point games for testing a new unit out. The game is faster, less complicated, and stops my opponent from bringing a tonne of stuff dedicated to killing it on T1. Unless it's a Super Heavy (Baneblades are not good under 1500). I take 1750 as the standard, but 2k allows me to field my Panzer Battalion. So I flip/flop. And then there's the various forms of Kill Team, which are hilarious.

Not always true. If both players agree to keep things casual and not go overboard on units, the game can be a lot of fun and very tactical. Had a 750pt game just the other day where I lured units to commit a certain way that split the enemy force. A force that couldn't handle being split like that after they deployed a certain way. It was very tactical and very fun.

1000 point is tough. I prefer 500 and 1850.
1000 point is nice in that it is in that range where players really have to balance the power of their shots/hits and the number of guys they have on the battlefield. Definitely epic moments in 1000 point games.

1000 points is what we play at the most. Means quicker games so if it is a thrashing you can set back up and have at it again.
We did a day of 1000pt games where we each played one another once. Was a lot of fun. Set army lists for the day.

As many have said before me, it is a fun point limit, where you can still bring plenty of fun and interesting units while having to make some choices.
Because 2000+ points takes up most of an afternoon, and while 500 points plays quick, it really isn't as satisfying.
I'd say 1000-1250 is a great sweet-spot of fun, tactics and time.
