New to Infinity

Alot of local gamers have desided to give infinity a go, and we are like 10-12 40k players trying out this nice game.

However I found myself in a trouble, given that I keep looking at all these wonderfull models and cannot deside for a faction, so hoped you guys can give me a few advice.

So far I am looking at the following forces, given to austistics. No preferance order: (the other armies are also way cool, but have to restrict myself, else I will never make a choise :whistle

Alepth, Got to admit, the hole AI elite (going to be nasty to someone) is cool in itself, and really like the Asuras girls. pleasing to look at. However not fan of the Deva girls, somehow they just ruining it for themselves in my eyes.

Haqqislam, Never been much for their new religious thingy in their way. However should I play them I am thinking a female based army on models like the Odalisques (so very cute). Shame about not having more than 2 and female bikers at the same time. However girl power could be great fun.

Nomads, just something about not letting people deside your furture. I am without job and can somethimes feel the need for kicking the "man" in the ass. Also looveable female models. Like the hightech in a rebellious look, however find many of the male models a bit to ..... lacking somehow. Also like a IT specialist the idea of many different models with many different options like hackers, jumptroops, robots and all kind of fun.

PanOceana, I am from Denmark, and their world sounds like something my nation is a part of in mentality (if we look at neoterra) something about knights (always had a thing for knights) and female bolt soldiers like this girl. The sniper girl not so much the fusilieris. Also think some of the models in neoterra is nice, does not like the look on the kneeling knight however that comes in the neoterra starter.

Things I typically like: Not set in stone in any way

1) female models (sucker for nice women)

2) diversity in playstyle

3) interesting movement options

4) A elite force more than numbers

5) a force that can leave me smiling, feeling I had a great game even if I was defeated

6) a force that does not kill me if I make the slightest mistake (dark eldar 40k, looking at you)

7) a force that dares to shoot back without have to sitting and cry in cover all the time for the fear of my life

8) a modern fealing of the force in combat

Thx for reading this so far, can you guys give me some advice, that can help putting some light on a hard choise`?

That's basically a description of Vedic Aleph.

Nomads. They have high number of female models, they have awesome internal synergy and rather open style. You can't go wrong with them.

Pick Aleph, if you decide not to settle on Nomads.

Also think some of the models in neoterra is nice, does not like the look on the kneeling knight however that comes in the neoterra starter.

Aquila's not a knight.

1) female models (sucker for nice women) - Aleph (if you like a modified human chassis).

2) diversity in playstyle - Nomads!

3) interesting movement options - Most things, so... Nomads!

4) A elite force more than numbers - Okay, have to give that to Aleph.

5) a force that can leave me smiling, feeling I had a great game even if I was defeated -Hey, this is Infinity we're talking about!

6) a force that does not kill me if I make the slightest mistake (dark eldar 40k, looking at you) - Hey, this is Infinity we're talking about. Your dice rolls will do that for you!

7) a force that dares to shoot back without have to sitting and cry in cover all the time for the fear of my life -You know that we're still talking about Infinity, right?

8) a modern fealing of the force in combat -Guess what? Still discussing Infinity!

Ahh... the tricky question

There are so many wonderfull models, that it is a hard choice

I will say it like this, different models look fantastic but in a different way from eath other.
If I find that I like some more than other, that would proberly end my search, and I would go for that.

Currently I am trying to figure that out, and in the mean time listen to advice from other players.

In the end, I want a army that I like to look at, and at the same time feel I have great and fun games with!

why must it be so difficult!

Your criteria point to Aleph the most.

Bakunin Sectorial.
Seriously, Nuns with guns. Need I say more.
But I'm biased. My first infinity minis were the Bakunin Sectorial starter and then the Reverend Moira box.
I then bought both ALEPH starters to have something new to paint while my Icestorm box arrived.
Haven't even touched the Pan O minis yet.
But will most likely go either MO or ASA.

ALEPH is generally not regarded as a good noob faction.
The units have lots of special rules that are somewhat difficult to manage at times.

Haqq was never really an option since my friend plays them.
Although I can get some mileage from some of my Nomads if I go Qhapi Sectorial.

I have used some days to look in the army builder program.

If think I will try this a bit different.

1) I like the idea of real heavy infantery that can holds it own

2) would like to have a Link team on the field

3) would like to have soldiers who can "deep strike"

4) like there to be female models

5) elite more than numbers, not to expensive on the vallet, not very rich

If we look away from all the stuff already said, given what I said. What armies can do this for me?

This is generic Aleph outside of a link team.

Heavy infantry that can hold its own? Hi Asura. Deep Strike? Not a lot that I'm familiar with, but Garuda Tacbots, Ekdromoi and Diomedes. Ekdromoi and Diomedes also have super jump (basically a 40k jump pack) for extra fun, Female models? So many to choose from, also doubling up requirement 1 - Asuras are some of the best heavy infantry in the game, and are exclusively female. Elite? Aleph hands down..

Yu-jing has some really good heavy infantry, AD (airborne deployment ~ deep strike) HI as well.

Eh, no faction has AD HI, not even Yu Jing (yet).

But we have one of the best AD MI in the game, that's true, granted, its only thanks to the hugely undercosted (IMO) Mimetism and LF but still one of the best AD troops in the game, now, if only the Multiterrain versions could link in their sectorial... (not gonna happen, Bostria dixit)

For what you said Pan O.

Look into vanilla and neo terra sectoral for what you want.

Aleph vannilla has it but you wont get links or as much AD. Nomads have the AD but not much everything else.

Every faction does what you want, just in different amounts and methods. Up to you to prioritise but pan O rules wise covers it better.

That said... go with the minis you like the sculpts of. Yujing has some good looking stuff coming out but everyone does

I play steel phalanx aleph, corregidor an vanilla nomads and combined and play against yujing and haqq on the reg. Pan O gets you where you want... but... nomads will have more ad combat jump etc than anyone, for a price.

Yeah, I recommend going with what you like the look of best, and then trying to fit it to your playstyle.

BTW, regarding Pan O, there is a Scandinavian element to it, one of the upcoming books should release the Svalarheima sectorial, the contents of which are somewhat of a headscratcher as the only decidedly Svalarheima troops current released are the Jotums TAG and the Nisses unit (and there is a slight possibility that ORC troops and Knights Hospitalier make it in as well due to some of the fluff associations).

I'd say PanO or ALEPH. But I voted for ALEPH.

Either way, I think you'll love the game!

Except ASS can only max link 4, penny is bad and you're relying on odd to get you up the board, when most lists will have msv.

Thorakati link and one myrmidons link with a sniffer bot, dactyl and sniper. You can load out FO, engineer, machaon and hacker easy for its.

For what you want Op you'll get more from PanO, aleph second and Nomads have the most ad combat jump.

If you do go steel phalanx though get the newest minis as well as a rebot box, Very nice combo stuff on them
