The idea is for the rangers, ballistarii and onager to provide fire support for the units drop poding in.

Looks pretty solid to me, similar to what I would run with BA.
Really personal preference here, I would rock meltas instead of plasma in a pod and atleast one icarus on the dunecrawlers.

Cognis Manipulator on the Dune Cralwers sounds great but such a waste that's 75 points for what 1 attack at str 10??? If your Dune Crawlers are in CC you are probably losing. Plus 15 more for the Stubbers. Drop the sniper rifles for arc rifles. Get 2 more Ironstriders with TL AC. Drop the conversion field for refractor and you need to get some AA, definitely agree with Icarus. I run two with icarus at 1750. Definitely agree melta guns on your detatchment.

thanks for the replies, the main idea behind the Cognis Manipulator, was to get "It Will Not Die" on the dunecrawlers, but i have no idea if this is simply a waste of points. Can an iron priest replace "It Will Not Die"? or is it simply not that useful to field repair your warmachines?

is psychic hood a good idea?

Why two ally detachments instead of one Combined Arms?

because i didn't know i could take units of a diferent faction in any thing then a allie detachments. what page is Combined Arms detachments on.
is the transuranic arquebues just bad or is there an other reason to use more arc rifles over them? - the increased anti-tank shooting.

Those Dunecrawlers are as many points as a Knight and not near as effective. Unfortunately Dunecrawlers just aren't a good choice.

I'd put a phospheonix on the plasma Alpha. Gives you 12 Ap2 shots. I'd run the arc guys as 5 man units with pistols, 5 Haywire shots at -1 cover should be enough. Never take Rangers they are more points than Vanguard for worse rules.

The lascannons on the Ballistarii are not worth it. Far too expensive on such a fragile frame. Also Ballistarii work best in MSU. Take multiples of the Cavalier formation if you want to field Ballistarii or run multiple Maniples (which means more units of Vanguard).

Also your points seem off on the Grey Hunters. Have you considered Flesh Tearers as they make more obvious allies for this type of thing with 6 FA slots.

I disagree, I think 2 Dune Crawlers with Icarus is the way to go mixing weapons is a no go. Instead of the Phospheonix just get another Plasma Cavalier... You can take 4 weapons in a squad, 3 from having 10 plus the Alpha. The Autocannons on the Ballistari is the way to go. I take 2 Dragoons for the formation for outflank. Yes Flesh Tearers are the way to go for 6 Drop Pods.

im nu to the termanology, what is MSU?
i did not know of the Flesh tearers strike force, but it looks nice thanks.
is it any use takeing weapons on the grop pods?

Well if you're cheating why stop at 4? Just take 5 or more. 2 Dunecrawlers is 250 points down the toilet if your opponent doesn't take any flyers or Skimmers. This can be OK in the right list (a Knight list for example) but if your meta is flyer light this can be disastrous.

Dragoons are solid again like Ballistarii you want MSU spam.

I just think he misread the part abut alpha weapons, I did it myself on the first reading of the skitarii codex .
