decided to get back into wargaming after a 2 - 3 year hiatus was stuck between Khorne Daemonkin and Blood Angels, I chose blood angels because i love the look of storm raven and what you can do with them. the list is 1850, but i am looking at getting 1000 points first. Any tips on what you all would change out and what everyone thinks I should focus on first for the initial 1000 points ++ Baal strike force (1850 points)++ +HQ(215 points)+ Librarian(warlord, ML 2, Gallian's staff, jump pack) - 115 Sanguinary Priest( Fury of Baal, jump pack) - 100 +Elites(595 points)+ 5 Death Company Marines( 1 powerfist, 1 Inferno pistol, jump packs) - 155 5 Death Company Marines( 1 powerfist, 1 Inferno pistol, jump packs) - 155 Death Company Dreadnought (Blood talons, heavy flamer, magna grappler) - 145 Furioso Dreadnought (Frag cannon, heavy flamer, magna grappler) - 140 +Troops(340 points)+ 5 Space Marines(grav gun, melta bombs, razorback w/ Las and TL plasma) - 175 5 Space Marines(grav gun, melta bombs, razorback w/ Las and TL plasma) - 175 +Fast Attack(230 points)+ 5 Assault Marines( Veteran Sergeant, 2 melta guns) - 115 5 Assault Marines( Veteran Sergeant, 2 melta guns) - 115 +Heavy Support(460 points)+ Stormraven Gunship( TL las , TL Multi-Melta, Hurricane bolter) - 230 Stormraven Gunship( TL las , TL Multi-Melta, Hurricane bolter) - 230 So I was thinking I would have both Death Company squads and both Dreadnoughts in the Stormravens with the Librarian in one and the Priest in the other. I would also keep everything in reserve except for the tactical squads , and would deep strike the Assault Marines near any vehicles i could pop or grab objectives, as well as use the Stormraven units to deal with hordes and the Stormraven itself to deal with vehicles. I also kept the jet packs to keep the force mobile once they have disembarked AND cause they look cool... So any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I think its better to put assault marines in drop pods so you can deep strike one unit in first turn, that makes you harder to table turn one and you can also punish some vehicles turn one

The list looks pretty solid overall. A few things I would do if i ran this list are drop the jump pack from the SP and stick him in a razorback with tacs since DC come stock with FnP, the +1 to ws is nice but I've found the number of attacks you get make it a pretty killing unit anyway.
I love my DC dred but your milage may vary with him.
I like to rock some combi on any sergeants if you've got the point, that extra shot can make the difference sometimes.
For assault squads totally agree about the cool factor and mobility but the alpha strike and almost guaranteed no mishap is to good to pass up drop pods most the time. Granted it's meta dependant.
Stormravens are great and love the look with some slight mods, and its a personal preferences really but reserves are just unreliable sometimes. I usually opt for landraiders.
For a 1000pts from whats listed hold off on 1 DC squad, the 2 dreds, and a storm raven. This gives you solid base and slight flavour of the bigger list and you can get a feel for how it would play, and let you see what might work or not before buying more models.

Do you think it would it be better to have just one unit of 10 Assault Marines in one drop pod, or keep it two units in two different pods?

Thanks for the tips, for the Combi weapons, would you say it is better than taking vet. sergeants on the assault marines and melta bombs on the Tactical Sergeants?

I would keep the two pods with 5 marines each. Depending on what you face twin flamers can be really good with them too. I would drop the inferno pistols on the DC squads and put the Furioso in a pod to punish any units with the frag cannon turn one and break the opponents focus. Take away the jump packs from one unit of DC and add in Mephiston in a Stormraven for some fun shenanigans. Also I feel like you could benefit and free up some points by getting rid of the marine squads and take 3 MSU Scout squads with cloaks and infiltrate them for objective grabbing.

Annoyed Blood Angel Devastator

one question: why grav gun on troops?
they have reduced range and lesser shot if moving, and are too slow to go near something big you should use grav against
i normally use bike squad with grav gun (one single unit or 2 MSU if needed) to fast attack big MC and also keep in place vehicles
i used to play a lot stormraven, but very unlucky at reserve rolls and if you can't put him in second turn is a waste of point. LR however is something you must put on 2-3 and/or couple with other high-av items (like predator or dread) or is melta/plasma/D weapons magnet
assault are good on 2x 5man squad in pods. i use them with melta to pop vehicle from behind but if you are facing against horde like enemies i think flamer assault is good too
however, i'm not a tactical/stretegic genius and have'nt a lot of win on my back to support my theories... :\
