"Dang that fething ork was tough"
"Still alive, Marshall? After we rammed them tech marines spannerous and the repair team are still pulling ork metal out the hull"
"Aye vargos, still alive, orks never die easy, The ultramarines hunt him, help discreetly as not to risk the captains honour"
"Understood, il see what I can do"
"Your judgement I trust, few others I would task this mission"
Still alive. That ork was tougher than they thought, ramming it with a fething 8km warship at high speed.... Whoed have thought it.
Turning to watch the fleets in orbit, the Marshall watched as Black sword drifted by, still scarred from early battles, its black hull patched by new shiny plates and fresh adamantium bracing.

Lord Commander Jeremiah sighed. So many men had died. And for what? One priest. His men hadn't questioned the order when it was given and so many had died for this one man. Was it all worth it? Jeremiah wasn't sure. In any case, the men's morale was at the breaking point, and the Regimental Commissar was at a loss for what to do, Jeremiah knew he was reluctant to begin executions, for fear that it would spark a rebellion in the regiment. But something needed to be done to raise the men's morale, to show them that all the blood toil and sacrifice was worth it. Perhaps if the Priest talked to the men who had sacrificed so much they would believe that it had been worth it. His course determined Jeremiah set off across the camp to where the priest was staying.

Spoiler:
If it would be possible, could the ones hunting down the Inquisitor attempt to find him and attempt to get the data? Could help with who finds the vault first?
Also, will it be put to a roll-off as to who finds the vault first, with modifiers according to if we achieved certain goals?
Off-Topic, could I have a roll on finding the Inquisitor and these silver armoured dudes in Continent Alpha? If so, numbers 45 and 87, respectively.

Well, I was writing a little thing about the Orks running across a mad human who claims to know where the Vault is, who he is and how he got to know the Vault's location is something I was still a bit stuck on (maybe he's the nobleman whose estate the Remnants infiltrated earlier? After all, he's supposed to have been responsible for the cover-up)... the Inquisitor knowing its location is another option, that would add a bit more tension to the relations between the various Imperial factions....
You could always try to beat it out of one of the Remnants senior officers, but you'd have to catch one of them for that
For those interested in getting the staff, the Remnants' flagship is hanging around over Gallor Prime somewhere, most of the senior officers are on the surface, but maybe one of the crewmembers knows where the Commander is... I figured chaz huggins' Orks would be most likely to try and find the Remnants' ship, and them actually finding it would fulfil one of the many visions several characters have been experiencing
But that's all up to you guys, if you want me to go ahead and throw some plot-related-curveballs at you, I can make that happen
But remember: not all is as it seems...

"Silence is our ally. Take out the greenskin guards, then move in. Take as many of the Flesh as you can, and get them back to the thunderhawks. I want minimum casualties." Archarus said into his vox, knowing his orders would be followed by the letter.
He wasn't going to make his presence known until the guards were taken care of, as his massive frame in his terminator armor wasn't made for stealth. It went against the seething rage that was inside of him since his pact with the daemon, but he knew it had to be so.
One by one he received a vox message letting know an ork guard was slain, and when the last unit voxed back, Archarus smiled and primed his teleporter.
++Rhino transports, you are free to approach. Sentries are eliminated.++ Archarus voxed just before he made his move in the upcoming battle.
In a flash Archarus was inside a large warehouse, and the stench of the dead wafted to him. He looked around and saw several bodies near him melting; an incident relatively common with teleportation.
"I am The Warsmith. Today you shall be free men and women, fighting for a just cause." Archarus said to the mass of slaves around him, who were still not recovered from his sudden appearance and the deaths of their comrades.
The Warsmith lifted a combi-bolter into the air, and said "These orks have held you captive long enough. It is time to go. There are vehicles waiting."
Before a slave could make any move to follow his orders or go against them, several nobz burst into the warehouse, whooping and yelling. "Alright ya gitz! Dere be some spikey boyz out. You'ze ain't goin' anywherez. Weze came ta look after ya. Oi! Who'ze dat big git in da back?" One of the brutes yelled, and aimed a power klaw at Archarus' direction.
The Chaos terminator let out a laugh, enjoying the prospect of tearing these greenskins apart. He took aim and let loose a volley at the orks, blowing the speaker apart before he could do anything else.
The slaves all screamed and were running around, frantically trying to avoid the battle they were stuck in. The nobz all charged at Archarus, bowling over any slave unfortunate enough to be in their way. Archarus fired more rounds into the nobz, taking one's legs off in a fountain of gore, but the rest were closing in.
The Warsmith stowed his bolter away and reached for his hammer, relishing the violence. The first ork to reach him swung a massive cleaver at his shoulder guard. Archarus side stepped the blow, and hammered his fist into the ork's face repeatedly. Shoving the greenskin over, Archarus moved on to the next ork, a killing frenzy washing over him.
More orks were coming into the warehouse, but none could stop him. Cleaving a path through the greenskins, Archarus didn't stop until he was completely surrounded by them. Realizing he was cut off from any exit point, Archarus muttered a quick vox for reinforcements, but still fought on, collecting a large amount of nicks and minor wounds as the fighting went on.
For several more minutes Archarus kept killing the horde, but more kept coming, and he knew that without help he would perish on this world.
"Warsmith! The gods will not let you fall this day!" Archarus recognized the voice as Skiraz. The traitor marine walked from behind the mob of orks, flanked by a squad of havoc marines. They all took aim and sprayed bullets throughout the entire mob, causing confusion in their ranks as they were torn to shreds from behind.
In mere moments the horde lie dead, unable to cope with Archarus' reinvigorated onslaught and the mass gun power coming from behind.
As the smoke cleared Archarus looked around, and saw half of the compound was in ruins, taking many of the slaves with it to its grave. Archarus turned towards Skiraz, aiming to show him a small amount of gratitude, but saw an ork kommando jump onto the traitor marine's back and detonate a looted melta bomb, incinerating the entire squad in an instant.
Archarus didn't say a word as he watched the astartes' remains bubble and boil, instead he went to round up the surviving slaves and get out of this hellhole before it got any worse.
Spoiler:
Archarus did ok, he managed to get half of the slaves from the place, but it costed him his left hand man. He's running out people he can trust, it's pretty much Pugarr and Oracheis he can fully trust now. Not that he expects any of the new recruits to be able to rise against him in his chaos powered state. Who knows, maybe these sacrifices will make Khorne like him more?

It was remarkably quiet that night, distant gunfire only sporadically breaking the silence hanging over the dying landscape. Great fires still burned in the hab-blocks of Hive Proctor, their orange light visible even from the vast distance the Ork Kommando’s camp was from the continent’s main hive city.
Gadnuk, leader of a small group of Kommando’s, was pleased with himself. With that human general in his possession, he had a nice little bargaining chip, one he was looking forward to cashing in sometime soon. He was toying with one of his knives when he heard some ruckus outside his command tent.
Soon enough, two Boyz staggered in, carrying a madly giggling human between them. The man was not as much fighting against his captors, but rather just spasming uncontrollably in between his laughing fits. Gadnuk shot the Boyz a questioning glance.
“Now wot’s all dis about?”
“We found dis ‘umie sneakin’ about our camp boss. He’z a lively fella, dis one”, the first one spoke, as he struggled to keep the human’s arm in his hand, the man jerking and twitching in every direction.
“And why didn’t ya kill ‘em, ya git?”, Gadnuk replied.
“He sayz he knows, boss”, the second one spoke.
“What does ‘e know?”, Gadnuk asked, uncomprehending.
“I dunno. He just says he do.”
Gadnuk smacked the Ork in the face, roaring a curse at his underling. “WOT DO YA MEAN YA DON’T KNOW? DO I GOTTA DO EVERYTHIN’ ‘ERE?”
He took a good look at the human prisoner, before approaching the man very slowly, bringing his face uncomfortably close to the shivering man.
“You’z gonna tell me what it is ya know, ya little git”, Gadnuk spoke, his eyes firmly fixed on his captive’s sheepish grin. “Cuz if dere’s one thing I don’t like, it’s gits havin’ secrets.”
The man just grinned excitedly, the unhinged look of a man who has seen things no man should have to see in his life twinkling in his eyes, as he looked at Gadnuk’s face.
“I know. I know. I know I know I know I know I know-“, the man started rambling, his mouth becoming a blur as he kept repeating the words faster and faster, before Gadnuk smacked him across the face.
“OI! WHAT IS IT YA KNOW, YA MAD GIT?”, he roared, his patience growing thinner and thinner.
“The Vault”, the man whispered, his look suddenly changing to a blank, emotionless stare.
Gadnuk raised an eyebrow, his attention piqued.
“What of dat Vault, ‘umie?”, he asked, as softly as he could, hoping that it would prevent the mad human from rambling again.
“I know where it is”, the man spoke, his lips curving upwards into a hideous smile, as he began to laugh hysterically, as madness took its hold once again…
Spoiler:
Here's a little something for you guys; the Orks now have a clue as to where the Vault is. Orks being Orks, that knowledge will spread itself soon, so there's a chance someone else can get the info from them

Archarus knelt before the towering shrine. It once venerated the False Emperor, but Archarus saw fit to have slaves remake it for a much bloodier purpose. It now was dedicated to Khorne, and beneath it lie mighty forges where sacrifices were constant, and supplied his daemon allies with enough slaughter to remain at full strength. He would need as many daemons as he could get.
"Archarus, you waste time worshipping the Blood God. If you wish to appease the Skull Lord, then kill for him, do not whisper prayers." Keb'hal whispered, appearing behind Archarus.
Archarus fought against the urge to crush the daemon's skull. His second meeting ended that way, but instead of returning to the warp the bloodthirsty daemon only returned happier than before and more willing to aid Archarus, saying "he was a true follower of Khorne".
"You claim to only wish to see how I progress in this war, then why is it that I hear tales of you slaughtering my slaves by the wholesale? Their lives are meaningless, but I need the fodder to fight battles, and take fortresses." Archarus whispered, curious to see what the beast's response would be.
"Hush now, Iron Warrior, I need sustenance, and their fear is quite exquisite." Keb'hal said, baring his yellow tusks in the manner of a smile.
"Then why not raise a weapon against my enemies, or declare a war on my legions, to let me have a reason to take your skull once and for all." Archarus said, feeling his rage take hold of him once more.
Instead of replying, Keb'hal roared with laughter, and swiped at Archarus, knocking him to the ground before he could react. "I like you, mortal. Now don't make me want you dead. Be ready for tomorrow, on that day the Imperium will see how much stronger you are with our help. With my help. Be ready." The daemon said, and vanished in thin air, leaving the smell of sulfur in the room as a parting gift.
Spoiler:
Archarus has got some battles coming it seems. And some daemons are coming to help, but who will be their first victim? I guess we'll have to wait and see.

The Chardon system has long been plagued by the foul forces of orks and chaos. Lord general Kruger Zonand has been tasked with returning the stray planets back into the fold of the Imperium. Many forces have joined the liberation efforts, The Black Templars and Ultramarines to name only a few. The crusade was faring well, until the inquisition uncovered something. Mogrok was acting as a beacon to the orks, something was drawing the green skins there. The lure even brought the famed ork mercenary Kaptin Grinbad and his WAAAGH! Orks on the planet surface uncovered hints and legends of a vault that would unlock ultimate power. Tempted by such a promise Grinbad sent one of his most trusted weird boyz down to the planet’s surface to investigate. The Ork discovered that four relics were required to open the vault, a skull, a broken sword, a box, and a staff. Soon there after a Deathwatch kill team in a hope to prevent the relics from leaving the planet began an exterminatus operation to destroy the ork populated world. While Mogrok was destroyed, it would not stop the hunt for the vault. First thought to be dead along with all the other orks on Mogrok, Grinbad’s shaman escaped destruction at the last possible second. He told Grinbad that Mogrok didn’t hold the vault they were hunting but rather only one of the keys to open it. The ork was able to secure the skull, before the destruction of the planet. The Sword fell into the possession of Lord Kruger Zonand, he kept it as a trophy. The box was taken by a rogue trader, but a ork pirate named Lud stole the relic for his own. The Iron Warriors and Deathwatch were combating over possession of the staff, but the relic broke in two both sides taking a fragment. They soon learned that they had been fooled, as a Thousand Son sorcerer had let them fight over a forgery, taking the real staff for his own. First Grinbad hunted down the treacherous ork Lud, murdering him and reclaiming the box. Next Grinbad dispatched ork Kommandos to infiltrate Lord Kruger’s flagship to steal the broken sword, the orks set a trap, leaving the general short one eye. Grinbad had everything he needed to claim the vault, except the staff. Grinbad’s lead mek with the assistance of the weirdboyz has concocted a device that would track the location of the staff. Now Kaptin Grinbad approaches the staff’s location in full force.
Grinbad’s orbital drop rock was plummeting down violently towards the frozen continent. The pirate was eager for the fight to come; the staff was the last piece of the puzzle. Grinbad examined the fellow orks in his pod. It was all of his most trusted lieutenants. To his right was Big mek Brainbreaka, he held the device that would locate the staff. Next to him was the Bad Moon Shaman Zed Klockwog the blind shaman who initially told Grinbad of the vault. Krem Bootblazer Grinbad’s first mate and second in command. Brutus Zogspitta the ork that betrayed Lud and won the box for the kaptin. Lastly there was Zeknet Zed’s assistant. Krem spat “Dis better work Breaker, else your gonna catch a good ard beatin.” The mek nodded “Aye, it’ll work, once we saw the psionic reflectors could be traced…” The ork was interrupted by Grinbad “Don’t rightly care what you did, so long as I get my staff” Zed spoke “It’ll work boss, last time we didn’t know the sneaky git could manipulate da signal like dat.” Zeknet added “Da Git probably thinks were chasin more dummies right now.” Brutus laughed amusedly “Gitz won’t see us coming.”
The rock shook violently as it plummeted downward, then hit the ground with awesome force. Several more roks did the same blanketing the fields surrounding the compound. Grinbad climbed out of the hatch of the rok and bellowed WAAAGH! He expected to be met with a hail of bullets, or at least the sound of them. But all that could be heard was the howl of the freezing winds, and the sounds of orks disembarking from their makeshift drop pod. Grinbad leapt out of the rok and looked up to the hill fort that held the relic. The fortress’s walls that should have held guards or sentries, were barren. Brainbreaka leapt to Grinbad’s side with the tracking device, the ork pointed it towards the fortress and spoke “It’s in dere boss.” Grinbad was angered that he wasn’t immediately met with a fight, he muttered “Dis better not be any zoggin chaos trickery.”
The orks proceeded into the compound, without the slightest form of resistance. Many of the orks were upset at the lack of action. One ork yelled at Grinbad “You said dat we wuz in fer a proper fight.” Grinbad was tempted to clobber the offending boy, but he couldn’t afford to stop, perhaps later. As the party of orks continued the beeping of the mek’s scanner grew quicker. They were led to a single room building, Grinbad knew it had to be a trap. Not that he would mind a trap, the boredom might be the death of him. Grinbad approached the door, he signaled for his men to wait outside. With a powerful kick the door swung open. Grinbad entered the room and the door shut behind him. A voice filled the air and the once common room transformed. Grinbad was now surrounded by piles of of golden teef and various ork weaponry. Grinbad smiled vigorously as he dropped to his knees and picked up handfuls of teef and let them fall through his fingertips. Than a voice echoed through the massive loot covered cavern “This all could be yours ork” Grinbad picked up a massive snazz gun and began firing in all directions. As his clip ran dry he yelled “Zog off ya git dis iz mine, ya here, all MINE!” Than the sorcerer appeared “Fear not Grinbad, I want to help you.” Grinbad looked around “Iz dis da vault?” The marine nodded “It is my green skinned friend, and it could all be yours.” The sorcerer summoned the staff into his hand and it appeared from nothing. He began to speak “Its all yours, all you have to do is…” Grinbad stormed the chaos marine before he could finish his sentence. With a single blow of his klaw Grinbad struck the marine transforming him into a pile of ash, Grinbad grabbed the staff he sought and laughed “Das all I had to do ya git” The walls of the treasure vault began to melt away back into the room Grinbad initially entered. The only trace of what just happened being the staff in his massive green palm. Grinbad exited the room and raised the staff high above his head so that his men could bear witness, they erupted in cheer. Big Mek Brainbreaka held up the scanner and a moment latter the mek spoke with a huge grin, “Aye, tiz wut we’ve been lookin fer boss.” Grinbad smiled “Now we find and open da vault.”
Later aboard the remnants ship
Gorgyon in a fury approached the quarters of the sorcerer. The automatic door opened and Gorgyon found the marine reading from a book “What is this I have heard, you just gave the staff to the orks, why the hell would you do that?!” The marine simply turned the page “Ah Gorgyon how may I help you.” The Death Guard marine spoke “Tell, me that you didn’t do that.” Without looking up from his reading material the marine said “What give the orks the staff? Yes, I gave it to that Freebooter.” Gorgyon was concerned “That means the ork has all the relics!” The sorcerer simply nodded “Why yes, he does.” Gorgyon was about to ask why but he knew he would just get the usual It will all become apparent in due time. Gorgyon sighed and spoke “I trust you know what you do.” He turned and left leaving the sorcerer alone in his quarters. The marine stood and approached the bay window that gave him a view of Gallor Prime underneath his helmet he smiled “The Kroza has descended, the end is neigh, just as it was foretold.”
Spoiler:
So I actually rolled for the staff a while back ago, but i've been putting it off for a bit. I hope Ezra Tyrius that you don't mind the direction I took with this, I like the whole "Everything is going as planned thing" with tzeentch's sorcerer meddling in the fate's of everyone. Also as a side note does the sorcerer have a name, I looked a few times for it but I couldn't find anything. If you did it on purpose, I like it makes him mysterious. Anyhow bellow is the results of my rolls
So My orks are once again attempting to raid the remnants for the staff. 48----you got 64,minor victory. It seems persistance will pay off and you get the staff, but is it still the orginal staff? I'm gonna try for some of the side objectives to General problems 64--you got 78, great victory Death from Above 18----49 minor defeath
My IG are also gonna go looking for trouble. Commissar Gavor and the Nova Marine Librarian are gonna hunt down the Death Jester. 84---22. Oh this is a major defeat, someone important is going to die or the mission will fail badly. Commissar Shepard and the acting- nova marine captain are going to try to raid a chaos held manufactorum. 26-------40, victory is given here and will take back the manufactorum. Sheppard makes a name for himself infront of the marines.
ps Ezra Tyrius great story about the mad man, I love writing for Gadnuk, so that is what I'll do next

The Commander raised the staff slowly, whispering the ancient prayers that would initiate the ritual. Besides him, a small group of Word Bearers and the other more zealous worshippers of Chaos prayed with him, their assembled voices forming a droning background noise. They sat upon a raised platform, carved into the grey mountains in the shape of an eight-pointed star millennia ago. Once, its presence had been hidden by great forests, leaves and branches hiding it from the sight of those who wanted to destroy it. Now the forests were burnt to ash, and the eight-pointed star stood out clearly, a grey star amid an ocean of blackened soil, finally able to fulfil its purpose. The Commander closed his eyes, and saw visions, visions of what would happen when the ritual was complete.
The oceans would boil. The land would burn. The sky would turn to ash. All life would be swept away in a single stroke, the mad laughter of thirsting gods audible over the carnage.
He opened his eyes, and wondered if this was the right thing to do. To sacrifice so much, in the hope of seeing artefacts like this one destroyed for all eternity.
The praying reached a crescendo, the clouds above them started circling around the ritual site, as if a hurricane was forming just above their heads. The center of the storm was almost like the eye of the gods themselves, looking down upon their servants and bearing witness to the ritual.
The Commander’s hand involuntarily went to the eye-shaped decoration on his chest, a reminder of his past life.
“I am a Son of Horus. And I will let the galaxy burn”, he spoke, raising the staff high, as lightning streaked through the sky and the clouds whirled around in anticipation.
Before he could finish the ritual, he heard a faint puff, coming from somewhere in the distance, a small but bright light briefly flashing up, and a sharp pain suddenly bursting to life in his chest.
The sniper’s shot was precise, too precise for a normal man to have placed it. Its trajectory passed right through the staff, breaking it in half, before digging itself through his armour and through his primary heart. Blood spattered outwards from the wound, staining the platform’s stone floor with crimson fluid.
The Commander tasted blood in his mouth as he fell backwards, his hand releasing its grip on the staff, the marines around him roaring in surprise. He felt their hands on his back, as they tried to keep him from falling down, their screams sounding odd, as if they came from very far away. He slumped further downwards, his eyes drifting from the sky to the floor, finally resting on the staff.
And it was then he saw the true horror of what was happenening.
The staff buckled and coiled, glowing hot-red, before it shattered in a thousand pieces as a daemonic roar filled the world. A daemon, an enormous monster, rose up him above him, black wings blotting out the entire sky, finally freed from its prison. His marines opened fire, but the creature just laughed and raised his great axe as the world burned to ashes around them…
“… And that would have been the end of you, my friend. The end of us all, even”, the Sorcerer spoke, as he pulled the Commander from his trance.
The Commander shivered, his mind still reeling from the vision the Sorcerer had shown him. He vomited, a green slurry escaping his throat. Panting, he looked up to the Thousand Son.
“Why… why did you not tell me this sooner?”, he asked. “Why did we go after the staff then?”
“The future does not always show itself so willingly, my friend. Sometimes it only reveals itself at the most critical moment…”, the Sorcerer replied softly, as he stood up from his chair.
The Commander grinned. “I was not aware there were things beyond your reach, old friend”, he answered, his body still convulsing against the psyker’s influence lingering on his mind.
“Nothing is beyond my reach, Commander”, the Sorcerer retorted starkly. “Which is why I already have a plan to fix this little situation.”
“I’m all ears”, the Commander smiled.
Spoiler:
Everything is going to plan, even if the plan changes halfway through This was what I'd originally intended to happen with the staff and my Commander, but I guess our good Sorcerer threw another twist into this particular strand of fate...
Also, the Sorcerer indeed remains unnamed, none of the other Remnants are willing (or dare) to try and get a name out of him Glad to see it makes him more mysterious as intended!

I dont want to see this thread die so here are some missions for people to take on:
Unwanted Allies: Initial fears in the opening campaign are materializing for the Space Marines. The Minotaurs have arrived in system and currently sit on the edge of the system seeing how things play out. They have asked for envoys to meet them .
Space Battle: The Chaos Warband "Blood Raiders" has entered the area, their small fleet must be repelled from entering Gallor Prime, more chaos on the ground would be cause more confusion.
Something stirs: The moon around Gallor Prime is suddenly giving off odd signals. What is stirring below the surface?
All not so quiet on the Western Front: The Western front of Gallor Prime is going nuts with activity, the trench lines are drawn and the Orks are dug in. But for how long? The Imperials are waiting on the counter attack.
Kruger to the rescue: Kruger is asking for escorts to the surface of Gallor to inspire the men...and see the local..."scenery"...anyone want to escort him?
Chaos: The Wolverines Valiant still have the commissar but something within him stirs and wants out, will he surpress his thoughts?

My guys will take unwanted allies. Our number is 43
TheEyeOfNight- I swear, this thread is 70% smack talk, 20% RP organization, and 10% butt jokes
TheEyeOfNight- "Ordo Xenos reports that the Necrons have attained democracy, kamikaze tendencies, and nuclear fission. It's all tits up, sir."
Space Marine flyers are shaped for the greatest possible air resistance so that the air may never defeat the SPACE MARINES!
Sternguard though, those guys are all about kicking ass. They'd chew bubble gum as well, but bubble gum is heretical. Only tau chew gum

Spoiler:
Not sure why the thread has gone silent these past days, but I guess real life is taking its toll on everyone's writing capacities
If anyone's interested, I can make a list of characters from the Remnants you guys can use for your stories; after all, the marines are all supposedly to be busy running errands for their great Commander and the sinister Sorcerer, so they'll inevitably run into some Imperials along the way
I'll add which ones I'd rather not see killed (severely injured is fine though ), but otherwise, you have free reign on how to deal with them
