I think the leman russ looks fine, I sure love to loot them.

For me, I'd go with the admech castellan robots - they look like the robot off big hero 6. Too rounded and soft, and their guns are tiny - I swear they look like big shootas. In general they look way out of place, to me, in an grimdark robomen imperial army. When I first saw them I asked if they were actual GW models or not.

While I don't disagree about the orkanauts being awful units, especially for what they cost ($ and points wise), and though I didn't like them initially, I've come to like the model's look. I think it's fine and fits the concept, if not the practice, of a mini-stompa.

I like it too, but it has some godawful design flaws, like an oversized main gun, no track suspension, and it's liable to get the front or hull gun stuck in the dirt when it meets a slope.

I will admit that the Admech derpbots look stupid, but they can be redeemed with a little green stuff to fix the eyes. With the Mutilator, you would need so much green stuff you would be better off casting a new model.

Like I said somewhere up there. AdMech and Skitarii are full of sci-fi tropes from the late 19th century up to the 1930s or so, The Kastellans are off a cover of Astounding Science Fiction. So are Vanguard and Infiltrators and Dragoons.

As goofy as the Kastellans and the Logan-sled are, they are not ugly models. Now the Taurox, that one is just plain hideous. It is like the Fiat Multipla of 40k.

Also, I don't get how someone can dislike the LR. It is a delicious combination of WW1 and WW2 tank goodness and looks totally adorable.

The Leman Russ is a classic. It's iconic for the AM/IG as a whole.

I personally don't mind the Taurox. Sure, it's ugly, but it's ugly in a functional way, like a Rhino.

I still haven't seen anybody put forth an uglier model than the Mutilator though!

It is massive, ugly, has track units that are practically rectangle and weapon mounts that make me want to weep.

Oh, and its ingame stats do nothing to redeem it either.

I was tempted again to post the picture of the Taurox again for reference of what is off with it:
Spoiler:
- The track assemblies are of a size their suspension should be contained within them but we still see a secondary system they are attached to.
- What is the point of the mudguards? If is was capped a bit to look like more protective armor, fine, but seems redundant.
- The large slope up a tread is for the long tracked vehicles that cross trenches: pointless: see spoiler of Humvee further down.
- Mounting guns on the side of the vehicle near the back just seems silly, like you could walk into fire if you open a side door.
- The rear door looks like a giant tank hatch. There is a reason for a drop down door: ease of exit and some cover as the door is swinging down with a good field of view.
- The split open back is just bad, at the very least have a viewport / camera on them so you can keep an eye out as you open them.
- The side doors look like bulkheads for a submarine: more designed for pressure than armor.
- The exhaust pipes coming out of the engine compartment just seems like bad design: ran out of room in the engine box, then routed back into the truck.
- The exposed latches for the engine compartment just seems to beg to pop those open and drop a grenade in.

I think it is the design looks too much like a Peterbilt retrofit:
Spoiler:

If the engine extended to the width of the vehicle a bit like the Humvee it may have looked a little more angry.
Ah! here we go!
Spoiler:

It really is a bad blend of Humvee and APC.
Only way I will use this model is when I put wheels on it.

I was going to say 'taurox' but the two recent space-wolf vehicles take the cake and run off with it!

A prctical note on the taurox doors - the hinges are toward the front so if the latch fails and it swings open during firing the ricochets will be going straight into the personnel area!
As an engineer, if i designed a vehicle like that and that happened then i would be legally responsible for the casualties as thinking about that for even half a second would have you mounting the guns somewhere else. (the hinges are forward to stop enemy fire ricocheting into the personnel area)

Surely if the hinges are towards the front of the vehicle, the door will open towards the front of the vehicle, meaning that bullets will hit the open door and glance away. If the hinges were towards the back of the vehicle, opening the door would put the door behind the doorway, exposing anyone standing in the doorway to fire.

Normally, yes. However, his point was that the vehicles own guns are behind the doors. So, if the door catch fails, it'll open and cause bullets/shrapnel from the vehicle's own guns to ricochet inside.

Luckily, they found the STC wiring diagrams for refrigerator lights. So when the doors open a switch is flipped stopping the firing of the guns.
