So I'm taking Thunderknightstar to a GT heat in October and I'm trying to decide what to take to the finals. Thimking of trying something different that perhaps the meta will be less prepared for and something people will under estimate. So I'm thinking Stealer Shame, broadly this works a lot like Lictor shame but without the Mawlocs. Here goes:

CAD
Flyrant: electroshock, dakka 240
Flyrant: electroshock, dakka 240
5 Stealers: 70
5 Stealers: 70
5 Stealers: 70
5 Stealers: 70
Zoanthrope: 50
Venomthrope: 45

CAD
Flyrant: electroshock, dakka 240
5 Stealers: 70
5 Stealers: 70
5 Stealers: 70
Zoanthrope: 50
Venomthrope: 45

SPORE FIELD
Mucolid Spore 15
Mucolid Spore 15
Mucolid Spore 15
4 Spore Mines 20
4 Spore Mines 20
3 Spore Mines 15

So all the stealers infiltrate along with the Spore Field. This creates a no go wall across midfield giving me board control as even most invisistars don't want to get hit by a Mucolid in combat, let alone 35 Stealers. The stealers deploy such that a model is in range of a Venomthrope but none are within Synapse range, giving me Shrouded and the ability to GtG if necessary. Then the Zoans advance (as do Flyrants and I get up ready to move and attack. Suddenly those squishy stealers become 35 terminators that are largely immune to grav. That is also 13 separate targets infiltrating which puts pressure on my opponent as there are 5 priority targets in backfield (Flyrants and Venoms) along with 13 right in front of their face.

I've also 10 Psychic dice to further augment this and give me more options.

Issues are dealing with Knights (though corale with Spore mines and gang up with Stealers or Mucolids is surprisingly effective particularly when supported by Flyrants and hopefully a few Warp Lances). Loads of ObSec helps mitigate many issues though rending is my main answer to 2+ saves. Most invisistars aren't much of an issue as Grav can't do much to me and fearless means tying up in combat can work. Whilst lots of Psychic dice plus shadow make forcing invis through a tough challenge except for a Conclave.

What do you think?

So because you are taking Thunderknightstar to a qualifying round for GT you automatically qualify for the Finals ?

The arrogance of believing you will do well because you're taking a powerful list is quiet frankly vulgar. Its a real shame the hobby has tuned into a money spending army chasing merry go round. People not being able play their dated codex because its uncompetitive based on the manipulation of formations for the newer more powerful codex is disappointing.

I can only assume you are approximately 15 years old and mummy or daddy pay for all your models. I'm sure throwing yourself around on the floor crying every time your list gets trumped by a new codex is a common event in your household.

Anyway every ounce of my body hopes you get beaten in all your games and you do not qualify for the finals. I'm sure with an attitude like yours the finals will be a better event in your absence.

People like you are what's wrong with the hobby, if someone wants to bring a competitive list then that's what he wants to do. If your going to a event that's what you should be doing it's a competitive event.
Maybe you should focus on being a better player instead of just complaining the it's the new codex fault that you can't win. For a lack of better words you and many others need to turn down the suck. If you don't like the way the hobby is going no one is forcing you to play, go play AoS, that's a pointless game, literally

Ironically, one thing that could really slow this list down is if your enemy has a decent sized unit of infiltrators. If you lose the roll to place infiltrators first, they could really ruin your day by putting a 12-18" barrier in front of their army with one unit. I have had this happen to me with a single full unit of scouts.

Also, if the venoms get clipped quick that could be a serious problem.

I love stealers, and love to see people use them. Hopefully they will get some love in the new bug as no grenades, point cost and no charging after running really hurts them.

Best of luck!

I only need to finished top half. I consider a tournament where I finish 2nd to be a bad showing (and on the odd occasion it happens I get ribbed by my mates for it). Anything outside of the top 5 is an absolute disaster. To think I'd finish outside the top 25 is inconceivable. No this is in no way arrogant it is confidence based on actual ability.

The rest of your post illustrates you are what is wrong with the hobby. Attacking someone for enjoying they hobby the way they want. I'm going to a tournament of course I'm going to take as powerful a list as possible and I expect my opponents to do the same. That is the entire point of a tournament. If you don't want to test your best list against other people's best lists then don't go to tournaments simples.

Whilst your comment and my age is laughable it is actually a massive complement. I would love to be 15 again, and I would love to have someone else pay for my hobby that way I wouldn't have to try to hide it from the wife...

Finally it is hilarious that you are moaning at me for invalidating older codexes through manipulation of new codexes when I'm basing my list on one of the weakest options from an old codex...

Venoms should be able to survive long enough for my purposes. But enemy infiltrators do cause the list problems as I can't even choose to not infiltrate a unit of stealers to assault any forward infiltrators and atleast deter the tactic, not to mention the ever present Servo Skulls in Imperium armies grr. I think back to the drawing board.

You should check FlingItNow's history. His lists on this forum are some of the best around, he knows what he is talking about. He also has made lists from many different codexes and not just focussed upon the cheesy ones, as is evidenced by this list.

Absolutely bizarre rant and with one post you have to wonder WTF.

Anyway, you know my thoughts on Stealer Spam, I think it looks great.
I'd be worried about Knights, Jetbike spam (even infiltrating, their manoeverabolity and firepowers is amazing + they could reserve) and hammer and anvil deployments overall but you cant cover every contingency at a tourney.
A dedicated strung out gunline could be nasty too?

Gun line I'm fine against, they either come forward and die or stay back and lose. Hammer n Anvil isn't too much of an issue due to infiltrate HnA if they have servo skulls is however a massive issue. Knights aren't really a problem once they've fought their way through the Spore Field the game will be nearly over. MSU really works for me here as they have a max of 4. I think I have the board coverage for Jetbike spam but bikes and knights will do well against me.

Against Lictor shame stealers fair well because they beat up the lictors in CC, whilst the MSU nature prevents the Mawlocs from doing well.

Pentyrants should be pretty much an autowin as he has 250 points on the board. I kill that surround objectives then ignore the Flyrants unless they want to get into combat with me.
