Been reading the rule book for this game quite a bit and the system looks very good. so i decided to try writing up a few lists.

Having never played a game of it i tried to keep the lists fairly simple with only 1 neat thing for each force and no magic or monsters.
At the same time i am trying to build lists that can eventually be upgraded to battlehosts.
I also tried to limit the lists to only 1 source of might. I know adding in command units will up the points quite a bit but for now i just wanted some simple 750 starter armies.

I own most of the minis needed.
I like the look of the minis.
I like the rules to the game.

I like the old fellowship art for the same reasons i like the heros from heroquest
I also like the look of the newer fellowship for the same reasons i like the look of the newer heros from games like descent.

Its a game with nice looking models and a very enjoyable set of films to reference for re-creating cool scenes. The whole point of GWs range is to allow you to recreate those cool scenes on the tabletop and quite frankly it does that very well. This is the attraction of their range...

Back on topic, I found the War of the Rings rules are very fun but very cheesy. I've been banned from running my impossible to kill unit of 6 companies of Morronans with Khamul. If their hit then they get a save on a 5 or a 6 and can choose to give the casualty back to an enemy unit if its close enough. One game they were solely responsible for wiping out about 3/4 of the enemies force. Monsters also seem slightly underwhelming as they rarely get enough attacks to do all that much damage and become instant archer fodder quite often.
