Hey all, So, I'm about to buy the Siege of Vraks book, but I was wandering - are all the rules for all the Forge World units that the Death Korps can use in there? All the cannons and such?

Cheers!

I can't say for sure, but if it's like the Renegades and Heretics list from IA13, then I would guess no. Obviously some of the weapons are in the BRB, but for instance IA13 gives you give the stat lines for all the Leman Russ variants but none of their weapon stats, so I would also guess you'd probably need the Astra Militarum codex as well.

This question can be answered in two ways. One: it does not contain all units DKoK can use (as they can use all sorts of super heavies and other units which are not DKoK specific). Two: I think it does contain all DKoK specific units (not 100% sure, to lazy to check my books ).

To continue point one: the Vraks book(s), only contains the Siege Regiment army list, which is fairly strict in what DKoK can bring in terms of other IG units (especially super heavies). IA: 12 adds another list type which has less restrictions on what DKoK can bring (this list allows for a wider range of super heavies and stuff like air support).

May or may not be important to the OP, but the IA:12 DKoK assault brigade list has restrictions too (e.g. No cyclops' or static heavy artillery, field artillery is heavy support, engineers are elite, etc.). There are DKoK units in IA:12 not found in the Siege list such as Grenadier Storm squads, Storm Chimeras, and Griffons with carcass shells, to name a few. If possible, I would compare the siege and assault lists before you buy.

Are they specific lists or can I choose from points costs and just a small list of options? I have the Astra Militarum Dex so that's not an issue, I read you needed that. If they aren't in there, which book contains the stats for all the different types of cannons? Like the Earthshaker, medusa, colossus bombard, 'thud' guns, etc? Not just their Strength and AP but the actual crew size and toughness and such.

They are specific lists.

If you want a lot of static artillery, go with the DKoK siege list from The Siege of Vraks. That has all the info you need for fielding Heavy mortars, Thudds, Bombards, Earthshakers, and Medusas!

The IA:12 The Fall of Orpheus DKoK assault brigade list is less about static artillery and more about mobility and mass infantry assault. Think WWII blitzkrieg!

Thanks heaps for the replies! I'm definitly keen on the Siege Regiment with lots of artillery

If they are specific lists, could I instead take an unbound list, using the units from the given list? I want to do my own lists (sorry for all the dumb questions haha, just wanna make sure I know what I'm getting into)

Sure you can, but there are pros and cons to an unbound army. IMO, you don't need to go unbound; the DKoK siege list can easily stand on it's own and there are many ways to form your army. Additionally, there are two unique DKoK detachements in The Siege of Vraks that give Death Riders objective secure or multiple Gorgons for an infantry assault!

Oh! I thought it was a static list you couldn't change the units in, rather than a list of specific units you can put into your list (derp), using the 1d4chan posts about them, I made a list http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/660168.page

Nope, the DKoK siege list follows the normal FoC from the BRB; mix and match to your liking.
