New to the forum, but wanted to ask around what people's view on this ambiguous and usually overlooked fluff. And to hear out other opinions and thought process than my own.

Just wanted to ask everyone's thought's about what happened or is currently still happening under the Golden Throne on Terra. If anyone does not know, this is about the mini to large hole that Magnus ripped into the webay tunnel under Terra. Smashing the thin veil that separated the the normal web-way dimension with the Immaterium. Causing its invasion by infinite Daemons and the needed response from the Custodians and Sister's of Silence; also with the innumerable losses of experienced Techpriests and Psykers along with the human worker contingent. While this explains these factions large absence from the Horus Heresy; it does not account for their continued absence other lack of appearance in current lore. Unless you believe that the hole; while lessened when the Emperor ascended staunching the tide but not stopping it. This includes that the 300 Custodians you see, are cycled out for rest, while the other 9700 continue to fight holding the daemon tide from invading Terra for the last 10,000 years(Which is the theory I like to believe; since its cooler than them just sitting around).

In a novel(I forgot which) Malcador takes a character to the gate that separates the Throne from the Immaterium and they overhear a devastating battle taking place. Also in the black Library there is a book made from a Sister's of Silence skin that maps the entire webway, and was taken supposedly after the fall of the human webway. I always liked to think that while a breach in the webway was terrible; the true loss was of the Golden City(The implied Human city that was going to reside inside the webway rivaling even Commorragh) supposedly before its completion. And that it was meant to start the transit and transportation of the human populace through the webway. And since the gates to the webway were big enough for Warhound titans; the battle or continuing battle that is going on would be of epic proportions. Not just over a defined line in the sand with the Gate being the final point. But over a blasted ethereal landscape of crumbling Imperial Structures. While Titans, Custodians, and Sister's of Silence duking it out with all of chaos ranging from small daemons to Greater Daemons.

Just wanted to know if anyone else's thoughts or evidence that shoots these things down. Do you believe there still is a mini eye of terror under the throne, and the remnant Custodians and Sister's of Silence are fighting a losing battle on Earth's own soil. Or that it really is sealed and they are just on guard duty. Eventually when the Emperor dies it'll blast open and Terra will be lost.

Sisters of silence are gone by 40k i'm pretty sure, but yeah it's practically confirmed the custodes are fighting constantly behind that huge door

The golden city isn't is just a name I gave it for my own sake. But there are mentions of the works behind the webway and the Grav Rhino stuff from the Horus Heresy Collected Visions images. Where Grav Rhino's( never seen before or have been since) enter the Webway as the Custodes means of transportation. The Malcador novel moment with the Imperial Webway gate I honestly forgot I'd have to rummage through my book collection.

The custodes aren't fighting any more. The webway portal is sealed by the emperor in the golden throne, so he can't leave It, ever.

The custodes would have taken heavy casualties during the battle to hold back the daemons. They still exist in 40k tho, but are a purely defensive force, with maybe the occasional official duty. It's not known if the remaining custodes are the same ones as during the heresy, or if more can be made wihthout the emperor.

Nobody knows what happened to the sisters. Maybe they took so many casualties during the webway battle that they became defunct , maybe something else.

Daemons still leak through on occasion, that's a generally-accepted fact, and is basically the whole reason the Custodes have to exist (not that the wouldn't if the Daemons didn't leak through, but still).

I highly doubt it, as the Black Ships are still flying and collecting psykers around the Imperium.

Yes, but it is said that those are mostly staffed by the Sororitas. Perhaps the Sisters of Silence are also there, but they go unmentioned in the current era.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.
