I'm not sure if this is the right forum, my apologies if not. I am looking to build a Lizardmen force to go against what I have for High Elves.

High Elf army

Loremaster of Hoeth
17 IoB Swordmasters w/ full command
17 IoB Sea Guard w/ full command
10 Elyrion Reavers
Prince on Griffon
Mage
13 White Lions w/ full command

I'm looking to add to the Lizardmen battalion to create a force that can give the above list a pretty even match.

Lizardmen so far
20 Saurus Warriors
12 Skinks
10 Temple Guard
8 Saurus Cold Bloods

A couple other bits- I have the rulebooks for 6th,7th, and 8th edition and would like to be able to play both AoS and whatever edition I think is best.

In other words, I want to be able to build up a traditional WHFB army. I'm using AoS to get my arse in gear when it comes to painting a couple forces and getting them on the table top.

I started collecting high elves but decided I don't like painting them as much as lizards. Anyways, thanks for any help!

A slann is great to lead, as your lizards are lacking leaders. Plus a couple of skink priests, and/or possibly an old blood to give you both lord and hero choices for whfb?

Throw in a carnosaur (maybe use croq-gar) and chakax for the temple guard. A slann unit or skink priest will rain d3 mortal wounds on your opponent. I have found that lizardmen with the right combos/synergy are one of the best armies out there. People have a hard time winning against them.

I would also add different high elf units. The sea guard and reavers are very average and hard to use effectively. The only reason I'd use them is to use the island of blood scroll. I would suggest phoenix guard and dragon knights as replacements.

Oh and use more swordsmasters if you can... they are really freaking amazing (3+ with rerolls for 1's and rend)

I was also thinking about recommending Kroq-Gar on Carnosaur - fast-moving,hard-hitting and well armoured heroes riding monsters/big mounts are very nice in AoS as they let you do some pretty crazy stuff and are great flanking/counter-charge models. With their multitude of attacks and nice bonuses (especially when named), they often can turn the tide of battle in your favour and, frankly, they're fantastic centrepieces to your army!

Temple gaurd are honestly gonna be a driving force in any aos lizard army they become nigh unkillable end result being 3+ save 12 bravery with a bsb and skink priest nearby both fufilling the hero requirement for the gaurds as well as giving them reroll failed hit, run, charge, and saves they also become a 2+ save with mystic shield. razordons another good choice with their reflex shots on a enemy charging them or someone near them.

but in the end its what you want to play

I thought seaguard and reavers were good units in AoS? Reavers for their 14" speed and seaguard for the bonus you get in a units of 20+. Could you clarify that a bit?

Thanks all for the replies thus far. Love the Slann priest and Kroq-Gar on Carnosaur suggestions- looking forward to painting those down the road. I'll add a couple skink priests as well. Temple guard are great looking as well. Here is what I am working with mentally so far.

34 skinks(22 have blowdarts)
20 Saurus
17 Temple Guard
8 cavalry

I feel like that is enough models to make a reasonably even match against the HE stuff I have.

What would best to balance the "hq" roles? Mage/loremaster v. skink priest?

prince on griffon v. slann/croq-gar??

I'm looking for a fun game where neither side is outmatched.

I also have a tyrion model but probably won't put it to use for a good while.

Thanks again for the help!

Kroq-gar will eat the griffon hero as he is great at eating other monsters. Him and a skink priest would be cool to add.

Using the battlescroll for the island of blood force evens it up a bit as it gives the griffon re-rolls if he is within 10" of Mage.
