Not sure if anyone has heard about this game, but some footage was released at Gamescon this year, and it actually looks decent. Its basically Left 4 Dead but with skaven. Color me interested!

Here is some gameplay with commentary from developers:

And some first impressions from some guy with interesting commentary:

What do you guys think??

I'd be willing to try it out.

Needs a skaven mode where you get to kill the good guys. As a skaven player when fantasy was a thing I would enjoy it thoroughly.

I agree a Skaven mode is pretty much necessary for the longevity of the player base IMO. I loved (and still do) Left 4 Dead but after a couple of months of the same maps, even with random spawns of zombies and different gear in various places, it still got stale. Along with the lack of customization in pretty much every aspect left alot to be desired.

My hopes is they run with the IP (assuming GW lets them lol) and give us some awesome customization other than your weapon loadout. A variety of loot, magical artifacts and weapons/armor. Some different skins would be awesome too *cough* DWARF SLAYER PLEASE *cough*

Jeez maybe even a Greenskin expansion or something. Overall pretty optimistic but we'll see how it all unfolds.

Looking forward to some new gameplay.

I got two invitations, but sadly couldn't find the time to give it a go. I did see TB's preview of it and I'm sold on this one.

It's in its last beta now, which is basically a demo since the game comes out in a couple of weeks.

I've put about 8 hours into the beta thus far, and the game really could be summed up as Left4Dead with swords and magic instead of guns (though pistols and blunderbusses are common), and giant rat-men instead of zombies. Mechanically the two games are very similar at their core, with Vermintide even having mini-bosses throughout each level that are functionally identical to the ones found in L4D (Rat Ogre = Tank, Gutter-Runner = Hunter, Packmaster = Smoker, Poison Wind Globadier = Boomer etc).

But that isn't really a bad thing. The game is loads of fun, while the graphics and physics are fantastic. I've mained the Bright Wizard so far and it's a real treat to toss a giant fireball at a pack of a dozen skaven and watch them rag-doll all over the place while immolating and screaming, or trying not to get ganked by the bullet-timeing, ninja assassins.

Fun stuff.

So there's loot drop qualities in the standard MMO style?

It's not a numbers kind of think (from what I can tell, a Blue Hammer and a White Hammer have identical stat values). The difference is that higher quality items have bonus effects, like faster reload on your crossbow, or a percentage chance of boosting your attack speed. Higher quality items have more bonus effects.

I bought the game a few days ago. Multiplayer seems a bit scarce. Anyone wanna play with me? I'm enjoying it so far. It'll help a lot if I can have people with me instead of bots, could cover ground more easily when looking for dices and tomes

I will forever remain humble because I know I could have less.

Really? I've been playing at some very odd times over the past few days (early morning, early afternoon) and haven't had any trouble finding games.

Is there a release date for XBone? Just called GameStop, and they had no idea about it. I just sold it to the employee on the phone though.

My favorites are the Wayfarer, Witch Hunter, and the Dwarf. Love the Warfarer's bow spam. The Witch Hunter can also bullet spam but I prefer his awesome two handed sword which is just magic for cutting down hordes of enemies. The Dwarf makes a really useful special buster with an Ax and Rifle, or a decent CC bomb with a shield.
