Hi guys, I'm just getting back into the hobby and me and my friend are looking at having our first game towards the end of september once we've both got everything built/painted, but as it stands this is what I'm looking at running.

CAD:

HQ
- Interrogator Chaplain (On Bike) - 130

Troops
- Scouts x5 with 1x Heavy Bolter and Camo Cloaks - 73
- Scouts x5 with 1x Heavy Bolter and Camo Cloaks - 73

Elites
- Company Veterans x7 with Rhino, 3x Power Weapon, 2x Storm Bolter, 2x Storm Shield, 1x Plasma Gun - 276
- Dreadnought with Twin Linked Flamer, and Powerfist w/ Flamer - 115

Deathwing Redemption Force:

HQ
- Terminator Chaplain - 140

Elites
- Terminators x5 with 1x Assault Cannon, 1x Chainfist - 225
- Terminators x5 with 1x Assault Cannon, 1x Chainfist - 225

Ravenwing Attack Squadron:

- Ravenwing Bike Squad x5 and Attack Bike with 1x Grav Gun - 185
- Ravenwing Landspeeder - 50

Total - 1492

Now I haven't played in about 12 years, so if there's anything you think I've missed, or anything you think I should include let me know

Edit: Typos/mistakes

Use libbies instead of chaplains (use the same models if you want) and go all interromancy (i think its called) cause its friggen brutal and amazing. Psychic powers will win you games and you get +1 deny the witch for squads they are in (plus the psychic hood lets them +1 deny in a 12" bubble I believe)

I think that the deathwing strike force rules are better than the deathwing redemption force rules (you get to choose each turn starting turn 2 if any units come on or not, and 12 " no scatter to the ravenwing attack squad)

7 Vets won't fit in a razorback - need 6. Not sure but I think you could take the razorback as a fast attack and stick the vets in a drop pod.

Thats a lot of flamers on a dreadnaught who has to run across the board...please give the poor guy a drop pod. If you are going to shoot across the board, give him 2 twin linked autocannons (or some other ranged weapon, but thats the best loadout).

This codex wants you to go either full company (2 demi companies giving you the bonus of free razorbacks) or pure ravenwing strike force (cause anything with 'Ravenwing' rule gets reroll jink saves!!) or a ravenwing strike force/ deathwing strike force combo (deathwing formation needs the ravenwing to use its deployment abilities).

Unfortunately this addition the deathwing didn't really change much (their not bad but not great) and the ravenwing got a huge huge boost (black knights near a darkshroud have rerollable 2+ jink saves....seriously, they are tougher than terminators x2).

If I was going to take a CAD...I'd probably do it just to take 3 libbies on bikes and 2 minimum scout squads, and then the rest of points put in a ravenwing strike force led by Sammael.

And thats only IF I wasn't allowed to take 3 libbies on bikes to lead the ravenwing strike force (a lot of groups are FAQing the ravenwing strike force to allow libbies on bikes as HQs even though they do not have ravenwing special rule because the ravenwing strike force clearly indicates that you can have 1-3 HQs which means it was not only intended for Sammael - since he is the only HQ in the codex who technically has the 'Ravenwing' rule)

Librarians is a great suggestion actually, I guess they're getting added to the shopping list! (Which means I also need some blue paints! ) And they're cheaper pointswise which means I can afford the dreadnought drop pod.

Razorback was a slip up so I've swapped it out for a rhino, but would it be worth removing one veteran and using a razorback instead?

I think I meant Deathwing Strike Force but typed Redemption because I happened to be on that page of the codex!

Thanks for the help!

Really not a fan of stormbolters here - save the points for somewhere else. Also, this unit looks to want to be in melee, but you can't charge after disembarking or firing rapid fire weapons (i.e. the plasma gun). Either give them some more (combi-plasmas) to make forgoing combat worthwhile, or swap it for a flamer or drop it entirely and get another power weapon.

As Chaosmarauder said, this guy wants a drop pod soooo badly

Needs a second grav gun, and I'd probably drop the attack bike to afford it. That way you can get a second weapon (and upgrade the first) on the landspeeder too.

My 2c.

storm bolters on veterans is icky, keep their pistols unless your moving to another pistol or their a command squad with the sacred standard

your lack of anti tank is something i find disturbing

DA army: 3500pts,
admech army: 600pts
ravenguard: 565 pts

As it stands I've only really got my mate that I'll be playing against, and I know for a fact he has no tanks/armour. Anti-tank is definitely something I'll be looking at if I start gaming with a wider circle though!

Thanks for all the input guys!
