(Started a new thread as the kickstarter has gone live - hopr that is alright.)

The kickstarter by miniature-games-28mm.com is now live and runs until 11:59am (London time) on 27th September.

Initial figures being offered are Dwarfs, Orcs (including Wolf Riders) and Undead.

Link to the kickstarter is:

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1878482396/28-mm-miniatures-with-individual-character

The initial offering consists of 37 figures with plans for another 41 to be released as stretch goals.

Pledge levels currently range from $1 up to $200.

Here are a couple of the many photos from their kickstaarter homepage:

Some of the sculpts are really nice and have a lot of old school charm, especially the dwarves. The campaign seem awfully optimistic though and doesn't exactly inspire confidence. I do not believe that they will be able to let the backers choose between metal and HIPS, which they claim.

I am choosing the lead-free pewter anyway, but hope that they produce some photos of the figures in metal and HIPS during the kickstarter so people can then make an informed choice.

Just noiced that there is an 'Early Bird' type pledge at $80 instead of the $100 pledge as well, but only 7 out of the 10 are left (it was 8 but of course I grabbed one ).

Tinhat, KS is not a store. You seem to post under the assumption that the creator will deliver what's shown on the home page. Others on the thread this KS should have continued on are not so optimistic, mostly questioning how he can afford *both* plastic model injection and metal. Myself, I see his goal is 20K. I've read that the cost per plastic mold is 5K to 10K, meaning that, if he only reaches his goal, he will have enough money to make... two plastic figures. Additionally, if you look at the creator's history, he's only run one KS project before, and that is for a cancelled project of handbags. Huh?? Going to their about page, we find:

http://miniature-games-28mm.com/about/ wrote:We is a small miniatures company, back in 2007, started to create miniatures for our own gaming table. As time passed, our skills evolved and the projects became more and more complex and challenging. In 2012, having reached the high-quality level, we’ve decided to start production and casting of highly realistic line of miniatures, suitable for wargames and static modeling. All figures have been sculpted by Serg Kost.

We are small creative team based of 3 persons based in San Diego and Ukraine. We believe that distance is not an obstacle for any kind of relationship, and collaborative work. Our design laboratory and manufacture is in Kyiv, Ukraine

So, good, t's one of those small companies whose projects are meant to be on KS because they probably would otherwise not have another source of funding, but, bad, if you're looking for a company with a track record in creating an delivering product without long delays. I think the miniatures look great, and hope the company or at least sculptor continues in the industry. But I'm also not confident that the creators know what they're doing. And I have plenty of dwarves and orcs, anyway.

I actually agree with you, but perhaps you should be saying that to other companies who are obviously using Kickstarter.com as such.

Well actually, yes I am.

As for the cost per mold I have actually read it as being higher than you quote. But then again I am only interested in the metal figures.

As for the rest of what you say I happen to know that may be so, but, then again if you can go from growing peanuts or a B film actor to being POTUS I guess running a kickstarter for bags is not such a big jump to running a kickstarter with talented sculpters and producing good miniature figures!

Good afternoon.
I want to clarify my project. I put through an intermediary.
Since I am from Ukraine and imagine yourself on a project Kickstarter can not.
With regard to production figures.
Here in Ukraine at the moment is very high inflation, and I was very satisfied. The wage level is low. Commodity prices hardly raised.
Not somnivayus, I have a good gap on the price.
I will fulfill his promises!
The decision is yours!

The dwarfs look great - and make me think of the Bob Olley dwarfs from Ral Partha's Fantasy Army line.

The orcs... my one bad thought is 'that poor wolf!' That is a mighty big orc to be riding the poor beast. (The wolf itself looks fine. The orc looks fine... just a difference in scales....)

The reason I bought rules and became a real wargamer was because I wanted a properly thought out structure to govern the action instead of just making things up as I went along.

I would back this but the assertion that HIPS is a possibility with such a low price point makes me think the owner hasn't got a clue (to put it charitably).

Orcs remind me of the Behemoth stuff from Confrontation. That's a good thing.

Have to agree on those poor wolves having to carry such big riders.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

Same here. I'd back for a few of the dwarves (and an undead or two at that, probably) if this hadn't seemed so obviously doomed to fail.

Great looking dwarves! Not my kind of kickstarter but I can see it being successful provided they don't try to make the models in plastic. I'm thinking that they meant you have a choice of metal or resin and just got the wording mixed up.

I'll let yourself embarrass yourself in public rather than discuss anything with you further.

Anyway, best wishes to the sculptor.

AlexVolf, please answer the concerns that you do not understand the project costs of plastic molds.

Better to keep the discussion on this one in the original thread that was started by the project creator, I think.
