I think it's supposed to be a vox speaker, combined with the bionic eye, which makes very little sense, because people don't emit noise from their ears.

It's very unclear. But as he has a bionic arm as well, I suspect it's something like that.
http://www.games-workshop.com/en-GB/Officio-Prefectus-Commissar

This is another case of the studio model not matching the one in the packet. He does not come with the vox earpiece seen on the painted one.

It's probably just some kind of archaic hearing aid really.

That's weird, I was looking to see if it was another head option but you're right, the studio version doesn't have earbees

I wonder if the odds/enemy needs to be shown.

I bet there is a lot that could be implied on a small base. Man vs himself, nature, or opponents.

I need to see if someone at my FLGS has a spare new GW oval base (the tiny ones,) and an Apothecary?

Thank you guys.

I had to speed up a little, cause as I mentioned I only have a few days left until I can go back home. RL will not allow me to do this for maybe a few weeks or longer after that.

There will be a lot of cool stuff, as always.

Sometimes I just send my friends on Facebook messenger pictures of miniatures so I can post them to Dakka without the rotation bug.

They think I'm being friendly.

But you are friendly, Buttery!

edit: also i think that the strange arrangement on the side of the commissar's head may be in inference of yarrik's lazer-eye weapon thingy.

Anyway, another WIP from me again. #5 this time.
Spoiler:

I'm having trouble with making sand look like it's blowing away but i've seen a tutorial on making plant roots so i think that may bear friut.

Ok, here's my entry. The 'Never tell me the odds' part is...the odds of my finishing this before the end of the month!

-14 scatbikes (paint)
-1 jetseer (paint)
-1 swooptarch (paint & base)
-1 crimson hunter (paint & base)
-3 warp spiders (paint & base)
-15 warp spiders (touch up & finish basing)
-3 distortion cannons (paint & base)
-Void Shield Generator (paint & 'base' = add vines, weeds, etc. to make it look like a ye olde VSG)

Can't un-notice that now!

Page 58 of 'Horus Heresy book 1: Betrayal' has a short story which features these guys - it was what sent me down the path of the Ordo Reductor before they were a primary detachment in their own right.
I'll write out the whole bit (the relavent bit) when i post my final pictures so the relavence to the "never tell me the odds!" theme this month will be brought into stark relief.

btw: i'm a fan of the tiny mek things on your last painting challenge entry and the expression on the face of the boy in your current entry - funny!

One very varnished floor.
Dunno why, but this pleases me. Shiny. Fun to touch, too. I'm trying to go for waxed floorboards and then the furniture and crap will be matt.

This pretty much matches my avatar colours IRL as well. That hat highlight is the most evil paint colour I own (neon fething pink) but worked over candy apple red.

The ear piece, laser eye and all that won't even show up on the final piece because of his ludicrous popped collar.

Not that I’m an expert, but the base looks fine to me. Mini is quite nice as well.

Just did the baseing on my captain this morning. It’s simple, glue a rock and a tuft of grass on, smear a glue/flock paste on, and then swish around in a pile of flock. Shake off excess.

The second, demonic, half of my entry is cleaned and waiting to be primed. Hopefully I can get her done in time.

Well got my figures mostly assembled (forgot to attach the shoulder pads ) they have been primed and now have their bone basecoat done on them. UNfortunately the primer (new can) sprayed heavy, lost some detail, but hopefully not too much.

I hate it when that happens. Especially on plastic models... Oi... Typically harder to strip those.

Big team you have there. I'm just painting the five guys this time, it's ironic because the limit is up... but I think I prefer the 'Mashaaf is gonna eat some dwarfs' theme.

Looking great, Nevelon! Looking forward to seeing what he's going to smack.

I need to try and strip mini-me's real eye because I slipped and.. Well it looks exactly like my avatar. But my avatar looks like he's sniffed something.

Here's the diorama as of yesterday: I've started drybrushing, plus all the rocks are slowly getting a nice coat of Eshin Grey. There's at least a hundred rocks on there, and I need to paint all of them... the humanity!

I've hit on a slight problem for mister Brown Pants.

His skin is tanned (because Chaos doesn't always mean unhealthy in my book.) His pants are brown. His weapons are brass, because I like avoiding gunmetal.

The problem is the guy is way too brown, all up. He looks deep fried.

So I've ordered some Pink Metallic for his knife and gun.

My phone's playing up so I'll see if I can take a WIP tomorrow.

@Aldo: That would be great for a 28mm mini, very impressive for a 20mm one! Is that your finished entry, or are there more pics coming?

@Matthew: Very convincing work there, love the textures you've got. Looking forward to seeing the minis take shape as well!
