I'm heading to NOVA for the first time, tomorrow morning bright and early (I'm not too far outside of DC). I'm bringing as TAC of a list as there is, which is going to ensure I have a rough
go at it. The good news is that its a very fun list to play, and across 8 games and three days, thats important. I want to do as well as I can without five Flyrants, mucolids, and mawlocs.

Thats not to say I'm not packing some heat:

CAD#1
Flyrant w/Devourers and Electroshock
Superbeast Flyrant w/Reaper of Obliterax, Adrenal Glands, Ymgarl Factor, Old Adversary, Electroshock Grubs (A whopping 325 pts of death)

Malanthrope

30 x Termagants
Tervigon w/Electroshock Grubs, Cluster Spines

CAD#2
Flyrant w/Devourers and Electroshock
Flyrant w/Devourers and Electroshock

Lictor
Lictor

5 x Genestealers
5 x Genestealers
5 x Genestealers

Biovore
Biovore

I'm going in to it knowing very little about the last 6 months of meta because I just havent been able to play much besides Killadelphia. There I learned that Superbeast is actually really effective, especially at board control. I also
know that Genestealers are terrible, and am taking them strictly so I can have Butterfly Genestealers to root for, and to infiltrate onto objectives in ruins (hopefully). The two Lictors are for point grabbing, Biovores will be there
to pitifully try to whittle down Necron Warrior blobs, and my Tervigon will hopefully keep reproducing as well as she has in the past few months and spit out tons of Gaunts.

Wish me luck, I hope to see a lot of you guys there!

Want to see Superbeast in action!

Really excited for these battle reports, particulary since they go against the normal competitive Tyranids of 'Five Flyrants and whatever you think will work best in the meta'.

Love the paint and style of your Nids too. They ooze class.

So cool! That army pic man - your tyranids - they really look like bugs with those wings added! Brilliant idea, I hope you do well!

Made me smile, five flyrants = competitive, four flyrants = mediocre

How do you manage six Flyrants? Two whatever the formation was that allowed three? Seriously?

Hey thanks for the kind words, everyone!

It's no secret with a peak at the leaderboard, I got destroyed at NOVA! Only two wins, and like all the cool kids I dropped the last day to just chill and hang out with my family at the event.

Unfortunately, on the first day I left my camera battery charging upstairs and then subsequently forgot to go get it in between rounds. I'm pretty bummed because even though most of my games were losses, they were for the most part very interesting and I didnt get to document the unbelievably bad dice rolls I suffered the entire weekend.

Nevertheless, I'm going to summarize each round as best I can.

A few takeways from NOVA:

1) For many of my games, the firepower of three dakkaflyrants wasnt enough (and a fourth and fifth wouldnt really have helped either). There is simply so much life saving shenanigans (especially for Marines) that cutting down a unit with focused firing was a rarity. Need some AP
values.

2) Biovores, even when given perfect targets, just dont perform.

3) Genestealers still suck, but we all knew that and I had fun rooting for them.

4) If I have to play against another Drop pod army in the next few years it will be too soon.

5) Losing can be a lot of fun at the right event. My dice were bad on an epic scale and you cant help that, but at least it didnt ruin the experience.
