This is a disaster for the free world. We look to America for protection, to defend our liberties and our way of life
West Point cadets are supposed to be the torchbearers of this vanguard, the cream de la cream of American military might...
But if they can't defeat a bunch of pillows, how are they going to march into battle against the Chinese or the Russians
I've long known there's a rivalry between the US Army and the US Marines,
but if there's a war tomorrow, I want the Marines on my side. Sorry army, the Marines are just better

Why are you surprised? West Point cant defeat Sandhurst in competitions.
Asking who wins the Sandhurst competiton is like asking who wins the Americas cup. The clue is in the title.

And there in lies the problem - American army officers are too decent and honourable.
If ever they get into a pillow fight with the Chinese or the Russians, these cadets will naively believe in fair play, decency, honour.
The Russians and the Chinese on the other hand, will stuff their pillows with bricks and candy bars to distract the Americans.
This is war, son!
It's why you guys won't be number one for much longer

I saw an image related to that somewhere, a whole pile of kit lying on the ground for a kit parade of some kind, and then Bilbo going "well why shouldn't I keep it". Pretty accurately sums how some people approach it.
However, I feel that how readily one can...acquire...kit in the military is unrelated to some West Point folk getting a bit bloody ha.

As a former paratrooper when we told to acquire things all the time. They quit letting us take our ruck sacks to heavy drop because of all the 100 mph tape and 550 cord we would steal. Nothing better when your in the infantry and stealing stuff from the pogs. Another good story was my platoon was in the rear with the gear and we would break into the chow hall tent every night to steal big cans of food so we could eat better. Well the cooks complained that the locals where stealing the can goods so they asked my platoon to pull guard duty on the chow tent at night. Made the job of stealing food so much easier.

4th of July on Bragg in certain parts of the 82nd......back in the day was quite interesting...
All the pyrotechnic individuals held for safe keeping were expended throughout the day and way into the night.
Of course quite of bit was intended for Roxie Nazi Week (Cadets from West Point and other schools spends a week with the 82nd for Show and Tell and other stuff)

I only lived in the barracks briefly when I was in A-school (about 6-7 months). But in that limited time I saw some of the stupidest things ever attempted by a human being. My fellow Marines were banned from both Olive Garden and Toys R Us for purchasing Nerf guns and proceeding to have a 5 on 5 firefight in the store and then buddy rushed all the way to olive garden after getting kicked out. And that was probably the tamest

Some how I got the job ( I was in the infantry) to transport prisoners to the jail at camp lejeune since we did not have a jail at Bragg. The number of deer through the main gate at lejeune was nuts at night there must of been hundreds. Spent a few nights up at cherry point marine base also waiting for our planes to jump back into Bragg. Marines at cherry point had one hell of a chow hall, they would sit and stare at us while us Grunts pigged out. Cherry point was like paridise compared to lejeune since it was a aviation base.

I worked night shift out at French creek in Lejeune for longer then I care to remember. And I remember one specific night taking the 172 detour rode by luckies mound and I must have spotted 34-36 deer without trying to. Amazingly you are allowed to hunt on base to, but those buggers just never die out.
