I was just thinking: Why are people complaining on there not being any female Space Marines. I personally find this stupid, since a female Space Marine would probably have her breasts cut off early in life, to allow for a mass producing of their armour. Am I correct? Discuss.

If female bodybuilders give us even a slight idea about what a female Space Marine would look like here would be no need to cut off anything. They have to take implants if they want to have a cup size. Female marines would fit in PA without trouble - little body fat, no boobs. You couldn't really tell the difference without getting in their pants and they'd be so un-sexy that you wouldn't want to.

I feel like we have this discussion at least once a month.

No one is complaining that there SHOULDN'T be space Marines. The issue is that apparently the gene seed was designed to only work on human males.
in the 41st millennium people are frantically trying to stop mutations and problems that are occurring in the regular gene seed with little to no success. What makes you think they have the expertise to change it to work for females when they can't even get it to work the way it was designed?

Space Marines: Jacks of all trades yet masters of GRAV CANNONS!!!.
My Star Wars Imperial Codex Project: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/641831.page
It has 7 HQs, 2 Troop types with Dedicated Transports, 5 Elite units, 5 Fast Attack units, 6 Heavy Support units, 2 Formations with unique units not in the rest of the codex, and 2 LOW choices.

Armor isn't designed for comfort, in the first place. A woman wouldn't need to have her breasts cut off to fit into plate-style armor, and it would require a pretty ample woman for armor to have function or comfort issues any greater/different than it has for a man. Additionally, the sci-fi/fantasy trope of plate-style armor with protruding "breasts" is an awful idea for armor. Depending on where the weapon/projectile hits, a ricochet could be directed at your face or to your torso, which is a bad choice in armor. On a related note, you actually need to be careful about wings and attachments to helmets - you don't want them to deflect weapons/projectiles off the attachment and INTO your head. A lot of sci-fi/fantasy armor concepts ignore that, too.

Agreed.

Astartes can't be female for the same reasons women haven't been able to have a fighting role in armies since the beginning of time. I'm not saying that can't or shouldn't change but considering the imperium has very medieval ethics it probably follows the same logic.

and as someone else said there wouldn't be much difference, ever played halo and switched between male and female spartans, literally the only difference is slightly narrower shoulders and waste.

Well, IN-game, the only reason given that women can't be Astartes is that the genetic modifications that turn a human into a Space Marine don't work on women (they need the Y Chromosome to work, it seems, though I don't know that that part is explicit anywhere). When it comes to fluff, I'm more familiar with Space Wolves than any other army/faction, and I feel fairly confident that there are likely some bad-ass human women on Fenris who'd be welcomed into the Space Wolves, were it possible.

Not sure if troll...

But I guess someone has to believe in boob armour, otherwise the myth would've gone years ago.

Edit - OP's name and avatar. Definite troll.

Well, he does hail from the frozen north, where the trolls live ...

GW did at one stage state that there could be no female space marines because the implants required the X chromo to work ...

It may have been retconned.

This is why game writers who do not know basic genetics should not write ANYTHING that uses the concepts.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
