Had a good game with my Viks last week and facing Gremlins this week - now I know its gonna depend on Schemes etc to some extent but thought I would try something different.....

Viktoria of Ashes, Survivalist, OathKeeper (2pts) - love "fast" on Viks
Viktoria of Blood, Mark of Shez'uu, Oathkeeper, (3pts) - ditto and mark of cheese is awesome
Ronin cos I love them girls (6pts)
Vanessa - cos sisters and healing (8pts)
4 x Ambominations (12pts) - numbers plus might kill some Gremlins and get more Abominations and may
Killjoy (12pts) - never played with him and looks ace
Void Wretch (4pts)

gives me 4 sparer soul stones for the game......

Aboms really only should be hired when you want card draws, but you have no way to heal them up, so they're easy Reckoning points. If you want activation control, look towards the Obedient Wretch/Rats.
The same goes for the Void Wretch, though they do make good scheme runners.

Ronin are amazing in pairs and you really should take more than one to benefit from the buffs the Viks give.

Have you considered the Student of Conflict (for the Vik slingshot) or the Malifaux Child (to cast Master Vik's buffs and save her AP)?

Vanessa is one of my favorite models in the game, but she really needs a Construct to partner with and Aboms don't really do enough. Lazarus loves free walks/shots though and they companion quite nicely. The pair work as a zone control set that can dominate the middle of the board while the Viks are off deleting things.

Consider:
Both Viks (put killy upgrades on Vik B, buffs on Vik A)
Student of Conflict
2 Ronin (these are your scheme runners when you need them)
Vanessa
Lazarus
Freikorps Trapper

You'll have the amazing blender that is the Viktoria slingshot, solid casting to handle incorporeal, plenty of healing, and you can gun down anyone that gets away.

I usually play Student and 2 Ronin and a Wretch for running around....

Never tried Lazerus - will check him out - I do really like killing stuff - hence why I can;t get my head round my Collete crew.

Colette gets very killy with just 1 word:

It's an obey that's even better because you can spam attack actions with it.

So you have Cassandra Understudy to Prompt Colette, who then casts Prompt on Howard/Joss/Coryphee and you're getting free attacks, cards, and pushes.

True with Colette as long as you don't really play in theme.

All that said I love Hannah with the Viks, as she can cast the sister buff spells if you put them on Vik of Blood. Which gets gross.

Just noticed the hodgepodge Effigy - nayone tried tis with the Viks/ Vanessa? Seems interesting?

Hodgepodge and Shadow are near auto-include effigies for me. Getting a stone per kill and he can companion or accomplice (whichever one it is), so he can go first and you don't have to worry about your opponent getting a chance to react. Even better with Levy and Von Schill who slaughter at range.

Hannah works when you put the upgrades for buffs on Vik B (which people rarely do). The Malifaux Child is for when you put buffs on Vik A (which is more common).

Against gremlins, you Might struggle in recon, turf war and market based schemes. Francois will give you a headache, but that's nothing specific to the viks. You really do need a way of killing him before he dumb lucks either Victoria off the board which he can do on a normal severe in a single shot. Lenny could be a problem as he guarantees that nearby gremlins have dumb luck.

The reason I raise these is because gremlins depend on set pieces mostly.

Because +2 damage on hannahs melee attack is gross? Also arcane reservoir is always nice.

Yeah I am kinda worried by the damage potential of some of the Gremlins - played them a couple of times and they can do immense damage with shooting... Vik (A) has survivalist and we also have 5 soul stones for DP.

Ahh, the Lenny death bubble, I do love Gremlins!

As a grems player, I'd say first to try and get rid of lenny, or the slop hauler that will be in and around that bubble. That auto-rams trigger is a right bugger, but I need the hauler to keep my boys healthy.

Alternatively, just stay out of sight!

LOS was no help - he had the catapult which ignores everything at 24" range and can fire into combat

Yeah, that's a rough match. Unless you have Von Swag or Tara.

Wasn't much fun - plus he had some of his shooting Gremlins on terrain which was without ladders or other ways up as he could catapult them onto the terrain piece...............

Those first three words describe most gremlin crews perfectly. If they work, they don't give much of a game. Like taking Fingers in squatter's rights.
