Does the Ravenwing strike force require you to deploy entirely in reserve if you have any flyers? The strike as one rule makes everyone go in reserves for an auto turn 2 arrival or deploy normally. So what about flyers, which have to start in reserve?

How do Flyers normally deploy?
|
Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

They can't deploy normally, unless maybe you have a skyshield. Or you could say their "deployment" is into reserves, but that seems gamey.
If you can't keep them in reserves while everyone else deploys though, a ravenwing strike force army with flyers can never be a stand alone force, which I think was not a design feature.

So your claim is that a flyer in reserve is "deployed"? Automatically Appended Next Post: Have you read the rule? Would you say that it allows a ravenwing strike force to deploy on the board turn one and keep its flyers in reserve? I'm trying to get a useful answer.

As far as I read it, if you get any flyers everyone must be in reserves. Probably not the intention, but as we know GW isn't the best one to look up for rules mismatching before releasing a book.
HWIPI: Only the flyers must be in reserves.

They're not alone in that... Legion of the Damned have the same issue, which has yet to be errataed, so would seem to be intentional.

That's the thing though, having them automatically come in turn 2 is pretty sweet. Especially since you can slot FW flyers into the formation. If I have room in my garage for three cars, but I only have 1 car, how many of my cars can I park in my garage?

Of course it's weird. Just as weird as a pure LotD force automatically losing the game.
Doesn't change the fact that it's how the rules currently work. If you want to not automatically lose, you need to either take something else alongside them, or change the rules.

It looks like my use of the term HQ Slots has confused some people. By HQ Slots I mean the number of HQ choices I am allowed to take. I am allowed to take 3 HQ choices in the Ravenwing Strike Force, not the 1 people are claiming here.
So if I ask you how many HQ choices can I legally take in a Ravenwing Strike Force detachment you HAVE to answer three by RaW. If your interpretation results in a different answer it is not RaW.

Re-read the posts you replied to, and your own replies. You were putting words in other people's mouths.
There are three HQ slots but there is only one legal HQ choice that can be taken, which may only ever fill one of those slots. You quite clearly claimed that the fact there are three HQ slots somehow means that Sammael is not the only legal choice, which is very clearly and simply incorrect.
Trying to change your definition of the words you used is meaningless when you at best misunderstood what people said, or at worst tried to misrepresent what they were saying.

I don know RaW breaks at that point so you can't use it.
It doesnt break, but you cant take another HQ as there are no legal choices, which was Quanar's point when he wrote...
