So I shoot my Vindicator at my buddies spiders and he just flicker jumps away.
What's the order on this? I have one friend who says I target them, then he jumps, then I scatter. Which means I could hit them with a VERY lucky scatter roll. I have another friend who says the scatter happens first, which means I would never hit them. Either way the spiders just move away from the blast.
How can I hit these guys with a blast weapon?

He jumps when you target them, which is before you even select a weapon to fire. So the order is
Target
Flicker Jump
Select weapon
Place blast
Scatter

Yup, the rule for Flickerjump states, "When a unit with this special rule is chosen as the target of a shooting attack, it can..." and so it is performed in the case of blast weapons before the marker is even placed in the first place.

The only way to catch Warpspiders with template/blast weapons is for them to still be in range after they do their jump(or for a blast to scatter onto them)

So I pick them as a target, he jumps them to a new position, THEN I place the blast and scatter it? Meaning, as long as I'm in range he can't avoid the blast wholesale?

In range ad Line of Sight, as if no members of the unit are able to see the spiders, then the wound pool empties. (the Blast rule does NOT get around this)

Parenthetical is false.
If they jump out of range no marker will ever be placed.
Unless you were meaning the blast scatters onto them after targeting a different unit(in which case there will be absolutely no flickerjump); just trying to clarify the statement made.

Yes, I meant for a blast with a different target to scatter onto them.

Fun factoid. When trying to shoot a blast at warp spiders, make sure your own models are far enough away from them. If the spiders flickerjump and surround a drop pod or something similar, then you will be unable to place a 5" blast without touching the pod (3" blast still works though )

If the models flicker jump away, where is the blast marker placed? Doesn't the hole have to placed over a model's base?

I don't write the rules. My ego just lives and dies by them one model at a time. |
