Range 6". Roll 2D6+2 for each target unit and subtract their leadership. They suffer a number of wounds equal to the result with no armour saves or cover saves allowed.

Few quick questions.
1. Does this mean it can effect more then one unit within 6"?
2. Does this effect friendly Tyranids as well?
3. Can it be used if the unit using this power is locked in melee?

Check the Psychic phase rules for how a Nova works this clearly answers all your questions (page 27).

Take the Magic: The Gathering 'What Color Are You?' Quiz.

Yes my Colour is Black but not for the reasons stated mainly just because it's slimming... http://imperiusdominatus.blogspot.com

yes to all 3

this is an especially effective power on your warlord when taking the Warlord Trait from the BRB that forces enemy units to use their lowest leadership model instead of their highest

Can be fired into combat, cannot be used whilst locked in combat.

It is still a Witchfire, and you cannot use a Witchfire whilst locked. Nova's contain an exception to hit units that are in combat, but not an exception to use it whilst in combat.

Actually I posted a while ago asking about this... I think there wasn't a concensus, but it is not a Ld check... is using a stat, it's not the same.
While the BRB says that for (Ld, Toughness, Initiative, etc) tests, you use the highest value in the unit, but when checking stats you use the majority stat value (like when rolling to wound)
What I mean is: unit of 10 models, 3 T4, 7 T3.
If the unit has to make a Toughness test, it uses T4 (The highest)
If the unit has been shot/attacked when rolling to wound against the unit, you use T3 (the majority)

Some, said that HWTPI was treating the check like a test.

Exactly as he said.

EDIT: To OP
1. Every enemy unit within 6" are automatically hit and no armor or cover saves allowed and no LoS requiered
2. Not only not friendly tyranids, not any frienldy unit. (Rules for Allies, which factions are treated as friendly... for tyranids, none)
3. If the psyker is locked in combat, it can't use it. If the psyker is 6" away from an enemy unit locked in combat, they are hit even though they are locked in combat.

3. Yet it is completely stupid conceptually, because being locked in combat would be the #1 most ideal time to release a terrifying psychic scream to demoralize and melt the brains of your opponents.

That would be Paroxysm.

Conceptually, the Psyker would be too concentrated not to be pierced by a power sword to bo concentrated con the minds of every other enemy around him.

Anyway. If it is a Zoanthrope, it would be hardly close enough to use it. If it was Flyrant, you want it Swooping and mindscreaming over all the field.
Only a Swarmlord or a Walkrant would be the case for you wanting to have it engaged in combat.
