Just a quick question - as I was unsure of where to put this request/inquiry. I love DakkaDakka - hell I have been on here for years and is the cause of many students work not being graded . One thing I did notice though is that very very very rarely is a new sub forum created - and if one is, it usually is of a very popular game (Infinity, for good reason) or a rename of a new game (Age of Sigmar). I was wondering if someone has ever asked for a Spartan Games sub forum before? It wouldn't really require much - you wouldn't have to separate into the 4 games spartan games provides (Firestorm Armada, Firestorm Planetfall, Dystopian Wars, Dystopian Legions - and 5 for Halo if you count that!) - rather it would be much like the other forums where you could have Spartan Games Discussions, rules Inquiry, battle reports, army lists... and whatever you might want to add. As for popularity, Spartan Games has gotten much more popular here in the U.S. between the various facebook groups there are roughly 3000 people, there are many in spartan's own forum, and I know that many of there games are just getting more popular period.

Now it would be awesome to have our own sub forum in DakkaDakka. Your forum easily allows us to put more pictures up, and the format/layout caters to a lot of people. Realistically it should pull a lot of people into Dakka Dakka who know it as a very good miniature wargaming forum.

I was just wondering who I would ask to request, or if you need many people to request a sub forum - or is it a foolish endeavor and I just hope and pray? And again, apologies if this is not the right location to ask.

I'd certainly support a Spartan Games sub, and considering they have the Halo licence now seems like the time to add one.

having said that they do have their own official forum last I looked, so perhaps there is simply not that much demand for it on other sites.

Oh, I certainly vote with my dollar, but the problem is that that is not enough. The problem with the 'vote with your dollar' response is that it doesn't take into account why we're not buying the product. I want to enjoy 40k enough to buy back in. It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that.

Meh I know - and it is very active - but it would also be nice to have one in a more popular forum gaming site such as Dakka Dakka. I feel like sometimes I just have to visit to many sources and Dakka is more of a central source. Plus I can only imagine the massive migration of facebook groups/official forum groups to here. It would also mean that a lot of the game developers would pop up here - if you have ever been to the official forums - the game developers are known to literally communicate with the player base about everything. I feel it would be kind of cool to have them every now and then pop up over here - show the dakka community that there are companies that care about the player base

That being said Jono - do you know who has the power/who do I ask. Hell if they need mods I on here 24/7 anyway so its not like an extra job for me.

You want the Nuts & Bolts subforum.

Peter: As we all know, Christmas is that mystical time of year when the ghost of Jesus rises from the grave to feast on the flesh of the living! So we all sing Christmas Carols to lull him back to sleep.
Bob: Outrageous, How dare he say such blasphemy. I've got to do something.
Man #1: Bob, there's nothing you can do.
Bob: Well, I guess I'll just have to develop a sense of humor.

Spartan had a subforum and nobody used it. You can see it discussed at the link below but obviously the direct links don't work since the subforum was removed over a year ago.

www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/541089.page

Someone new gets into a game and posts a bunch but then loses interest... Or a few folks get interested when the rinse/latter/repeat spartan cycle churns out a new game or edition every 6 months... And then interest dies down and NO ONE posts for weeks to months at a time. You can see it in the Halo discussion already. It's been tried before but there just isn't enough long term consistent interest in Spartan to support a subforum properly. And before some white knight reflexively labels me a hater, I just got the Halo game and plan on buying/discussing more but that doesn't change the facts.

People need to grow up if they call you a hater. I remember the sub forum but that was years ago when version 1 of firestorm armada was out. I'm finding now with version 2 - all the new patrol fleets - the fullness of the game - more and more people are playing. The problem is that with online presence we only have the official
Forums - which is already mostly booked. Could we try again to see if it would work. Worse comes to worse then we delete it.

The admins have stated their policy before. If there is sufficient existing discussion then they will consider adding a forum. The key is that there has to be sufficient discussion first.

Well, I can tell you from the long process that created the xwing subforum that the first step in getting the subforum back is to have multiple active threads on each of the various games over in misc games. If that works for several months (and not just with the same core 6-10 people posting daily just to bump threads), they owners of dakka will consider it. It helps to have a mod cheerleader as well. That's at least how the xwing game got a subforum around the time spartan list its (although one was NOT a condition for the other). Show enough consistently widespread interest to support multiple threads and it eventually it gets noticed. I'd contribute to a halo thread.
