The standard missle pod and the broadside high yield missle pod don't have the ignore cover or homing rules, it's just the smart missle system that have them.

Hopefully this new missle weapon will follow suit (no pun intended).

For the greater good...

Nobody knows until we get to see some rules. However, I would imagine that any army that relies on cover saves to survive should have a problem vs Tau.

It will be interesting to see if Tau get something to make their over watch better than Dark Angels. But even then, I enjoy denying over watch anyway. Should be fun. I've got a few tau players in my area so it shouldn't be long after release that I'll get to play against the new rules.

I'll tell you what will happen: people will realize exactly how not broken a 2+ re-rollable cover save.

As long as they play tau anyway But then again Tau already ignored a Jinx save

Ravenwing will die in droves. Tau ignoring jinx and cover with high strength weapons... Sigh. I guess it's not all AP 3 or lower.

There's so much "special rule dialed up to 11" and many units that completely nerf or ignore special rules... so silly. Some of each is good and tactical. Too much too often gets closer and closer to the rock paper scissor analogy.

No way to tell what GW will do after their AoS break. The Taucurion could be broken as all gak, more of the same the Tau currently have, or they could completely change gears and start swinging the nerf bat.

Its broken when you don't have ignore cover weapons and its useless when you do (which also brings up a problem with the all or nothing nature of ignore cover). Not every army has easy access to ignore cover and the 2+ rerollable saves is still a horrible mechanic due to how numbers work.

with the new stealth mega mech your likely going to see null deployment tau with deepstrike and infiltrate/outflank shennanigans in play perhaps with the new buffmander we could see a tau monstrous creature assassination combo team that infiltrates, survives to see combat, charges your commander down and derps him in the face with his fist.

the fact that it sports a heavy bore plasma weapon of some kind brings into question wether the plasma storm battery/leman russ (and predator) executioner will retain their grip on the title of large blast plasma weapon owners. with them basically being the only people with such a weapon.

and i think that if this tau weapon isnt just a glorified plasma cannon we could see even less reason to bring terminators than before.

i am sincerely hoping they rework their group overwatch or just get rid of it entirely in favor of something different such as wall of frag grenades where instead models with grenades are allowed to voerwatch with them once per game instead of the current system. this forces you to carefully consider blowing your load of points on just battlesuits devoid of grenades and wether to spend it on the assault marines about to charge you instead of waiting for that other unit who would otherwise just get to waltz on in unopposed.

Wishful thinking to a degree.

I play against Tau almost exclusively to develop solid tactics.

Tau will probably get a formation that provides networked Markerlights on every gun in their list with a minimum of 3 Riptides needed and a new super riptide that lets them overcharge their invul save to a 2+ when within 36".

I forgot to mention it'll be a web-exclusive only sale with only 300 copies at most and cost 500pounds. Get em while they're hot!

My Star Wars Imperial Codex Project: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/641831.page
It has 7 HQs, 2 Troop types with Dedicated Transports, 5 Elite units, 5 Fast Attack units, 6 Heavy Support units, 2 Formations with unique units not in the rest of the codex, and 2 LOW choices.
