Edit: Project is now live on Kickstarter. Linky

We've got another Kickstarter project beginning next Monday to add some more figures to our Burrows and Badgers range, so I thought I'd preview three of the new sculpts here:

Hope you like them! I'll post some more pics over the next couple of days.

cheers
Michael

Is there any word on when your proper webstore will be up? It looks like you guys are bouncing from KS to KS and people who miss out on those are left in the cold.. without your badgers with boomerangs or ninja dwarves :(

We took the webstore down, because we were having loads of problems with the moulds for the fantasy stuff (the dwarfs and halflings etc). They really need re-mastering, and remoulding, but it's just not something we can afford to do. So the webstore will be going back up, but it'll only have the newer things like the Burrows and Badgers range on it. The moulds and casting of those were done by a different guy, and they work brilliantly. Sadly, we can't say the same for the rest of our figures.

It would be nice if we could just remould everything, but we don't have the cash. That's the big problem with being a very small business, I guess!

Hopefully the webstore will be back up and running late October or early November.

I know a lot of people get huffy about Kickstarters where the company uses the money for things other than what the actual KS is about, but how about doing a KS that's just focused on paying to recut molds and whatnot? You can offer up new rules or scenarios or pdfs or something but also offer up the models that are being remolded.
Companies have done similar before and you guys are no strangers to KS from what I've seen so it seems like it'd be worth a shot

So, does that mean that the robots won't be in production anymore?

Automatically Appended Next Post:
And is there any chance of seeing a pug bard this time around? As long as there's some kind of canine representation though, I'll definitely be backing.

The main difficulty is that the first couple of KSs we did weren't very well master moulded, and we basically be starting from scratch, as the original sculpts would need a lot of work to repair, then we'd need new master moulds and production moulds. The amount of time it would take is huge, and could be spent on sculpting new stuff instead... plus, I've improved as a sculptor in the last couple of years, and when I look at the first set of dwarfs, for example, I just see all sorts of things wrong with them! If I tried to remaster them, I'd probably end up wanting to resculpt them completely!

The robots are a bit of an odd one; Pete Brown did the moulds for those, which means they are good moulds (he's an excellent moulder/caster) but we re-cut them slightly to work with our casting machine. Now our casting machine is broken, and Pete does all our casting for us, the question is whether the re-cut moulds will work with his more modern casting set-up. We'll have to send him the moulds and see, I guess. So, right now, the robots are in limbo... but we are hoping they'll be back.

As for the anthrop stuff, no bards unfortunately... but there is both a pug and a beagle!

Oh wow! The pug even has an eye patch. He's awesome! I'll back it just for him. But you threw in a Roman tortoise, too? Even better! I think I'll be dropping a fair bit more money on this one. Any hints of other animals that will be included?

I'll add some more pics later, but there's a quite a mix of different critters... the usual mice, rats and shrews etc plus the odd armadillo.

My kids seem to be more interested this time now that we've started reading Redwall every evening.

I'm sure I'll end with a mouse at least before all is said and done.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

I bet a lot of Dakka members grew up reading Jaques' books. Wouldn't surprise me in the least.

Is there any chance of figures from the first campaign being made available? I can't find a place to order them on the current website.

Or I'm just blind, which is certainly a possibility.

I spent many a happy evening reading them to my kids too. Always had to do weird voices for the different characters, and occasionally had to sing the songs...

angelofvengeance wrote:Excellent choice of kids reading material there sir . I grew up reading those books myself!

Yep, great books. Lots of violence and murder disguised as a cute, furry animal story, just the way kids like it...

Your'e not blind - I haven't got them in the webshop yet... but they will all be available in this next KS anyway, and then I'll add them to the website as well.

Here's pics of 3 more:

Very cool.

I'm sure we'll be in for a good few, especially now that cleared a bit out of my unpainted bins of shame.

I know what you mean... I was OK with my pile of unpainted stuff, but last week a few more bits arrived off ebay, and got added to the shame stack. It's definitely starting to lurk menacingly now...

Anyway, in an attempt to get you to increase the size of your unpainted piles, here's a link to the new project, which is now live:

TOO MANY CHOICES!!!

Went in for a slave badger and an armadillo for the time being.

Will show the kids after work and see what they desire.

Thanks! Dangerous though, asking the kids. If they are anything like mine, they'll just shrug, and say 'All of them. What's for dinner?'

Is there any way to get some of the existing figures in the interim period between now and when the new stuff arrives?

I had to pull my pledge due to a wife wanting me to cut down on Kickstarters until we get a new fridge, but plan on bumping my brother's up to include my choices, so still a win/ win for everyone.

What a great project! I had no idea this was by Oathsworn - I've always wanted to back one of theirs but never had a use for the minis before. Just packed for a few Adder Mages and Toad Animists (the latter from the prior campaign, nice that they're letting folks add them on ).

We do still have some stock of the first set here, so we should be able to sort something out... although we are hoping to get the new stuff delivered in December too... out=r caster reckons he'll have it all done in November.

RobertsMinis wrote:Lots of goodness in this Kickstarter... Not that I have painted any of my other Burrows and Badgers stuff!

Yeah, I'm a bit behind on my painting too... I was hoping to start taking stuff to shows next February, then realised I'll need to paint every model first. Still, I'll get them done one day, honest...

That Mouse Maiden will become a must purchase for my daughter, and will probably be henceforth known as Cornflower in our house.

Highlord Tamburlaine, thanks - and Jo's pinching the name Cornflower for her copy of the Mouse Maiden!

Promethius, I know anthro stuff is very much a love-it-or-hate-it thing; I'll be getting back to doing some more conventional figures soon though. Thanks for backing the dwarves; although I look back at them now, and I see so many things I'd do differently!
And yeah, I quite fancy making some landsknechts, so I probably will at some point... are you thinking Empire fantasy style, or proper historical style?

So the Burrows and Badgers: Freelances Kickstarter is in its last two days... there's 26 minis in the set now; including Legless Nev, the drunken weasel. There's a sculpting step-by-step HERE

And you can visit the project page HERE

Jo has also put together some more scatter terrain with has got it's own pledge level too.
Anyway, piccies:

cheers,
Michael
