These are the same PVC bases from the recent kickstarter. Everything is up and ready for purchase. I dropped a bundle on more Tech bases for my Marines and some wood planks for my Malifaux gremlins. I can easily see making more purchases down the road. These are really great bases.

good to see them up,

the larger ones especially are decent value compared to resin alternatives

Breotan, if you have a chance could you post some "in the wild" photos of them?

Having used a bunch of their Dark Age base inserts, these are a crazy good deal by comparison (although I really love the Dark Age ones). What if you needed more 50mm bases though, is there a way to buy them individually? That seems like a sticking point if someone wants to use these for Warmachine and needs, say, a dozen 50mm bases.

I'll take some pictures of my bases when I get home. Until now, this old one of my bag of Tech bases will have to do.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Okay. I'm home and here are some shots of the bases that I actually have.

Here are the "Ancient" style bases...

And here are the "Tech" bases...

You may notice the 50mm Tech base incorporates nicely into GW urban Realm of Battle board.

Hmmm, the small ones are a lot more expensive than similar sized resin ones, but the big ones are indeed a pretty good deal.

Anybody know if there is going to be a European distributor?

Not sure what you mean. Micro Art Studio small resin bases are €4.92 for five. That works out to USD $11.25 for 10. Granted 26 cents isn't an impressive savings (the dollar has been pretty strong lately) but the CMoN PVC bases are still cheaper. I guess shipping and import taxes would have to be factored in as well.

Hope so, I need a tonne of the ship bases.

I bailed on the kickstarter as the shipping made it not really worth it to the EU. No doubt Wayland will jump in, but hopefully Element, Firestorm or Dark Sphere will as well.

Was comparing them not only to MA resin bases, but all other resin bases, too.
And seen as you can get ten for 3.5 to 5 quid, yes, 11 bucks is expensive.

But they are nice, and like I said, especially on the big ones actually quite a good deal.

Yeah, I'd have expected a bigger price drop considering the material. At the 30mm level, it'd be cheaper to just go with resin bases, depending on company.

I was looking forward to these hitting retail. Fairly disappointed.

The fact that they aren't resin will be an attraction for some (who don't want to mess with the potential safety hazards),

so even at those prices there will be takers, but I agree they missed a trick by not going for $8.99 a pack on the small ones, which would be clearly cheaper than the 'good' competing resin ranges (but I guess we don't know what they cost them to have made)

Discount Games Inc has the for 30% off. Though they've sold out of a few sets.

I do think they missed the boat in pricing the small ones. There's no real savings over Micro Arts 30mm bases, and the bases themselves have a noticeably smaller surface area to use due to PVC shrinkage. If you have wide stance minis, you might run into trouble

You better take another look at the pictures I posted. PVC shrinkage was factored in when the bases were converted over from resin and because of this the PVC inserts fit quite nicely into the HISP plastic base. As for wide stance models, there are pics of all three sizes with a AoBR Tactical Marine on them so you can figure out suitability with whatever you are thinking about using them with.

Maybe mine shrunk more than yours? All I know is that a normal insert for a 30mm base normally is about 25mm, mine were about 21mm. The 50mm insert was about 40mm. The lips on these bases are a fair amount bigger than other manufacturers, such as Secret Weapon, which results in a bit less surface area. I actually have the old dark age swamp base inserts and compared to the swamp bases they did for Wrath of Kings, they new ones are smaller as well. On many figs it wont be an issue, just on those wide stance ones, that extra 10-20% might make a difference. On things like the plank bases, its not an issue, but the ones with less overhang, it should be noted IMO.

Yea, I'm regretting not checking with the discounters before ordering. Next time I'll not let my excitement get the better of me. Still, I ordered what I wanted and you can be certain I'll but them all to good use.

You got a camera? I'd really like to see what you wound up with and the comparisons to other bases.

Were some of the lines, perhaps, resculpted when they were transferred over to plastic so they did not overhang the 30mm outline as much as the original resins?

after all these are specifically intended for CMONs game and they may well have wanted 30mm to be 30mm rather than 32 or 33

after all one man's 'useful for minis with wide stances' is anothers 'Argh, too big it won't fit through that gap in the terrain'

Some styles of inserts have overhang but none extend beyond the black HISP plastic base and that's is what the measurement is made from.

Out of curiosity, is there units in other systems that commonly field units on 40mm bases in groups of 6? Or single models on 50mm bases? The large packs, at least for 40k, seem like the numbers aren't doing you any favors.

Malifaux has decent amounts of models on 40mm bases, and lots of solo models on 50mm bases.

Well, seeing how they are wide lip bases, not beveled bases, I doubt 40K-players are the target audience. No 32mm, no ovals, bike-bases, large stuff for Knights, etc.. will also make it tough to base any kind of 40K army uniformly with these.

The odd person making them work for a specific 40K-army aside, this seems clearly to be done for the likes of Warmachine, Malifaux and, my guess, possible future use with various CMON-stuff.
