Absolutely it is... If you really want to go whole hog on the Word Bearers theme, then may I suggest that you use the Crimson Slaughter codex for your Marine component? Doing so gives you access to Possessed as a Troops option, alongside a slightly altered possessed table that makes them more survivable towards enemy shooting and/or gives them a speed boost to their movement. (and possible Rending iirc as a possible combat buff!)

The CS relics also include a suit of 2+ save armour, as well as a special Accursed Crozius for some Dark Apostle love, and the ability to grant a Sorcerer the 'Daemon' USR which thus allows you the option of fielding a rather formidable Malefic caster.

The only big loss is that outside of the Cult troops, you can't take the Veterans of the Long War upgrade on anyone, which in the long run isn't really a loss at all.

I have the crimson slaughter book and I agree it's a good book haha. Might go cultists heavy with rhino mounted squads of marines and chosen + some heavy tanks and hellbrutes. Daemon allies will consist of some horrors some plague bearers and a GuO :p

I would agree. The crimson slaughter book works well for a Word Bearers army. The only thing you lose out on is the ability to take Veterans of the the Long War. Which wont break you army but if you want if for fluff you only get it on cult troops.

I personally love Word Bearers but I run an Anointed list that is all termis. Unfortunately, I have to run the SW dex to make it work :-(

On second thought. Khorne Daemonkin might work also. Yes you lose some options (sorcs, dark apostles, techmarine, and havocs) but you do gain the ability to have khorne daemons without the warp storm table and you can summon in free daemons if you get enough tithe points. And you can always ally in crimson slaughter for the stuff you lose out on or ally in KDK to a crimson slaughter list to get the free daemons.
