For some models I am planning to paint I am looking to get a dark golden look on some metallic parts and I am wondering how this sequence of paints would look:

First - base of Leadbelcher
Second - shade of Nuln oil
Third - layer of Gehenna's Gold or Auric Armour Gold

I'm not sure if this will look good. I don't have the paints yet so I can't tell and would like your opinion.

I don't think it will look good, gehenna and auric are both bright golds, so the transition from dark steel won't be natural. Why don't you start with warplock bronze? Then build up the gold with lots of thin layers of paint. That's how I did my stormcast and it works really well.

I use a golden brown paint,(p3rucksack tan) a black wash, and then a dry brush of gold. I would suggest a golden brown base.

That looks really good. I think I will try it out. Thanks

Yeah, I'm with JamesY. I don't think this will give you the desired result of dark gold, mostly because leadbelcher + nuhln doesn't look like dark gold -- it looks like oily gunmetal.

I suggest either starting with Balthazar and washing Agrax; and if it's not dark enough, another layer of Agrax, or Reikland Fleshshade if a second would be too dark. That will give you a really dark gold for the recesses. To finish at dark gold, if you want to stay in GW, you pretty much have to mix up your own color.

P3 Blighted Gold might give you what you're looking for. It has a little bit of green, and a little bit of black in it and definitely has a dark -- if dirty -- gold look.

I would stay away from Gehenna, which looks like red gold, and Auric, which looks like a brilliant gold.
