Basically as the title suggests, I really need some AA. I've heard Hydra's suck, AA missile teams are too expensive point wise and fragile, meaning I'm most likely going to have to forge world it? Thought I would ask here before I drop £100+

Now everyone I've spoken to says I should take some kind of turret or defence line, but I don't want something immobile. I was recommended to get a Vulture with twin linked punisher cannons, but I have a feeling it would still struggle vs something like a helldrake.

Vendettas are solid AA and double as (arguably) the best AT in the AM book. Can't get much more mobile than them. If you need it T1, you can stick it on a skyshield, but that gets pricey pretty quick.

You can also go with FW/SM fliers: thunderbolt with skystrike missiles, stormwing formation, lightning, or AA equipped vulture (not so hot IMO as the punishers/strafing run means this guy really wants to be shooting at dudes on the ground).

Allies are a whole other thing. Knights, contemptor dreads, stormwolves, crimson hunter formations etc.

Be advised that the ABG Hydras (IA 2 second ed.) have Ignores Jink and come closed top at 75pts.
So you can ally in a Command Tank, a Troop Demolisher and a Heavy support Hydra.
When facing Heldrakes you need either Vendettas or Icarus lascannons. it ignores most of the Damage Table so your best bet is to Penetrate and hope for an Explodes result.

You shouldn't be worried about the one bullet with your name on it, Boldric. You should be worried about the ones labelled "to whom it may concern"-from Blackadder goes Forth!

Sorry I don't know what is which imperial armour... but isn't that a space marine book? Also 5 points for ignoring jink doesn't seem enough seeing the main problem with hyrda's seems to be the lack of interceptor.

I just want to be able to buy one or two mobile units that cover the AA front and also shoot at ground targets....

May be a vendetta with a vulture may be the way to go?
