We are delighted to announce Tank! – the first exciting expansion pack for Commands and Colours: The Great War by Richard Borg.
We are running a Kickstarter campaign to help fund the production costs of the first print run:
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1992455033/tank-an-expansion-pack-for-the-great-war
We are offering pledges at a good discount to rrp/msrp plus the chance to add lots of Great War products to your pledge at discounted prices (including the core game and another expansion pack of 3 Whippet tank models. And, of course, we have some great stretch goals!
If you backed the Kickstarter campaign for the core game then don’t forget you have a GBP 10 voucher. If you would like to apply this voucher to this Kickstarter then just deduct GBP 10 from your pledge and leave a note with your KS backer number from the core game campaign – we’ll sort out the paperwork!
This expansion pack contains 6 highly detailed and pre-assembled 1/100th scale World War One British and German tank models, 2 German artillery pieces and 8 crew figures, 2 A4 punchboards of tokens and new terrain tiles and a booklet of additional Tank special rules including bogging down, on board artillery rules and “tankschrecken” and 18 scenarios to enable players to recreate the iconic first tank battles amongst the trenches of the Western Front in 1916-1918 such as Cambrai, Villiers-Bretonneux. Included are bonus Whippet tank scenarios and rules for onboard artillery.
Having learnt lessons from the core game, the tank models are pre-assembled (and have a basic paint job and decal markings)
The tank models included in this pack are:
2 x British MK IV males
2 x British MK IV females
2 x German A7Vs

Nice to see more Great War models for this scale in plastic. The Battlefront versions of these tanks are just so overpriced.

I dunno - tank war in WW1? Tank v tank encounters only occurred on a handful of occasions. i guess they need to do this to give the game a broader appeal. Still, the models look nice.

I was kind of disappointed to read "pre-assembed and pre-painted". They look nice but I hate pre-painted minis.

I'm not into pre-painted stuff either, but I'm sure just painting over that basic job would be simple enough to do.

They looks like there just primed with a few decals on them. Not much of a paint job

It seems to me that at some point they must be unassembled and unpainted. Surely some can be sold while still at this stage.

Im sure at some point they might be... But this release is aimed at boardgamers and they dont tend to paint stuff on the whole.
The artillery are very nice models, got a battery of each at home that Im working on and they are very well done. Would be very handy for 15mm WW1 gamers if released as a seperate box set...

I agree, PSC might as well be chucking money into the local river for every day they don't release these miniatures as separate unbuilt box sets.

I expect they will but I suspect the entire production runs are being taken up with filling the boardgame sets.
The way the factory runs, you can only make so much of something, and still keep other stuff in production...
So making more of these to go in wargame style box sets may actually not be as profitable an option as say a new 15mm WW2 tank kit.

After costs for design and production of boxes of course... Cant see PSC selling plain boxes, retailers wont like that.
...and working out the production runs for the sprues... as you will need to increase production to cover boardgame and extra boxsets... which will impact on other production. So maybe delay new 15mm WW2 releases...
Only so many sprues you can make in any given time period and you need to make those which maximise profit margins.
Not sure its as easy as you imagine.
Not entirely convinced 15mm WW1 is a huge market either... But thats just me.

I feel your argument could be more consistent.
Even GW does web exclusives for smaller lines. BF thought there was money in it. PSC can't have been totally blind to the fact BF are releasing a WWI game.

The link makes reference to the guns being made of "semi hard plastic". What exactly is this? For comparison what are PSC tank kits made of?

I believe they could be referring to the use of standard injection moulded styrene for these kits. IIRC most PSC kits are cast in Games Workshop style hips which is harder and more durable than normal styrene.

My immediate guess was 'Zvesda' plastic but I'd like a confirmation.
£12 for the box of five German 105s when they're released. Chuck in a pack of Peter Pig SCW heads (@ £3) and a pack of NCOs for the command/staff team/spotter and I'm good to go for a full battery of Nationalist artillery for SCW for less than £20.
