Hi

I've seen a few of these but as I'm new to Malifaux don't know what they are for.

Are they missions?

Do the models have their own cards, can they be part of a crew?

Thanks

the University of Transmortis one is a strongly themed set of a resser henchman, 3 minions and several alternate scenarios to play using a standard crew vs the models in it. That said the minions are great beaters for the ressers because each one loves hunting a diffrent type of enemy, and the henchman is a solid general purpose model.

Brotherhood of the Rat is a bunch of outcast minions and peons and scenarios theoretically useable like UoT but honestly it's the other half of Hamelin's crew box. Hamelin likes rats and summons them, rats become rat kings, rat kings become rat catchers and rats, continuing the cycle.

Rat Kings don't become Rat Catchers.

Rat Catchers are an integral part of the crew, which is why I'm annoyed that they're in a separate box. They essentially allow you to move Rats around freely, and summon rats. Which, Hamelin struggles to do in his crew box, in all honesty.

But anyway, The story encounter boxes give you faction specific generic models to play with.

Umm...Rat Kings do become Rat Catchers. It's the second stage of the cycle.

Rats are also in Hamelin's box, but it just gives him more. Would you rather them have made a $100 Hamelin box that had everything? It wouldn't have sold well.

Story encounters have a couple of bonus scenarios to play using those models (some are like Malifaux solitaire too, where you can play alone) and the new ones have a TTB story with them too.

Hamelins crew is one of those super fluffy crews that looks like a blast on paper, but in practice I can see it being both super boring to play and play against.

It's a niche. You get two ratcatchers who hand out reactivate to rats who charge in, hand out blighted to models who've already activated, and then just run away/become rat kings.

Then, Hamelin either does damage to the target equal to their blighted condition, or hits them and gains bonus damage to their blighted condition.

It's a pain to get the hang of.

He's the only answer that Outcasts really have to Recon or Squatter's Rights though, at least until Winged Plague's come out.
