Was messing about on xwing builder today came up with this.

Omicron Lambda shuttle
HLC

Omicron Lambda shuttle
HLC

Omicron Lambda shuttle
Tactical Jammer

Epsilon Leader Tie/fo
Stealth device

You could set this up and never move for the rest of the game ,or at least till someone kills Epsilon leader

You park 3 Lambda Shuttles in a line and behind the middle lambda put Epsilon leader.

The lambdas keep their dials set to stop, get a stress and then have it removed for being in range of Epsilon leader.

Would be very bad against cluster missiles and ruthlessness.

HLC have a bit more time with the range advantage though

How do you respond when your opponent sends all their ships down one fire arc, or worse avoids them completely?

If they're right next to each other you have a pretty good field of fire, but you can still turn.

left shuttle banks 1, middle 2, right 3.

Drop stress, fire again.

It occurs that this would be quite a dull list to play

Agreed, both play with and against, but sometimes people don't let that be a barrier if they think they'll win (can't think of anything worse myself.)

Using Epsilon with Soontir Fel and 2 Interceptors all having push the limit might be a fun list, would be almost the opposite of this list and fly all-over the place

This Is Where the Fish Lives

This is one of those things that is not technically against the rules but completely destroys the spirit of the game. Be prepared to piss off everyone you play against.

Of course, there are people who could easily trounce this list, especially with the new large ship scoring. Shuttles can die really fast to any kind of concentrated fire and with the new scoring rules, your opponent only has to strip off 5 shields on each of your shuttles; that 15 points of damage will net them 41 points and if they kill Epsilon Leader, they'll get 60 points. They they can just outrun the shuttles for the rest of the game or kill them.

You don't need an Epsilon leader or stopped maneuvers to do this. You can set up two shuttles in the corner of the board angled towards each other, corner to corner. Select 1 banks towards each other and they will perma bump on one another staying put indefinately.

The idea is that both your shuttles have a fire arc to either side (with both arcs covering the middle). There is usually a narrow 1 ship width corridor for enemy ships to fly down on either side where they can approach unfazed, this can be difficult for most players to arrange without flying off the board though. No one will be able to get behind your shuttles and if he makes an attack run you can shoot at the enemy as he flies towards and away from you. You won't get actions though.

Someone actually used this tactic at a major event a while back (Worlds 1 or 2 years ago)? It turns out to be not very effective. Fun to mess around with in Vassal though.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Also, I believe this kind of tactic is known as "star-castling". Which is an old Starfleet Battles term.

Milage may vary as to whether or not this is against the spirit of the game.

Turnip Jedi has at least two I think...

Terrible dial aside, they're the same price as a Rookie Pilot with double the health and more upgrade slots, they're a long way from irredeemable.

Nope I have three, they were dirt cheap on some US site and then the ever helpful UK postal service decided to slap me with import duty and a lovely handling charge (only twice that of the duty due)

In which case I "look forward" to seeing this list next time we play...

I have 2... but then my goal is to have 2 of just about every ship.
One person I know plans on having enough of each ship to run a 100 point list of whichever ship is the lowest squad points.
8 Z-95's (8x12 = 96 points) etc.
Others have their mind on Epic Play... Up to 12 of any single small based ship and up to 8 of any large based ship. Kinda crazy if you ask me.

You have seen what other game companies charge for the chance to play a bog standard game, right?

Honestly, I'm happy FFG have decided to spread the risk of being a game company on many properties, and having a wide array of SKUs. It makes for a whole lot less pressure to "buy more of the premium minis."
