Hi guys,

I just managed to get the new KOW rulebook and am really liking what I see so far. A few friends and I will be trying our first game over the weekend and we are looking for advice on army sizes.

Most Warhammer games we played were around 1500, 2000, or 2500 points. Would KOW lists at these point levels be fairly similar? Or should we be playing at higher/lower point levels? We aren't really sure how the game balances out yet.

Id start at about 750 to 1000 to get a hang of the mechanics, for general play, 1500-2000 seems to be the preferred level.

Tournament games will probably be around the 2000 point level so that's a good place to aim at. That's likely to have more units than a 2000 point WHFB army though.

One good idea is probably to take one of your existing WHFB lists and repoint it for KoW and see where you get to.

Beat me to it.

That is pretty much what most of the players in my local group do when they start out - then painting up a new unit or two to bring the points up.

*EDIT* An exception is one of the elf players - who worked out his points, then calculated how many boxes of Island of Blood he would need to buy to get it to work....

Which resulted in a new Ratkin player, because the Skaven had to go somewhere....

The reason I bought rules and became a real wargamer was because I wanted a properly thought out structure to govern the action instead of just making things up as I went along.
