I absolutely love running a Slaaneshi Sorcerer in my CSM/Daemon army and have been trying to decide whether or not to take a ML3 Sorcerer or a ML1 Sorcerer and using the extra points to Improve Heralds. The way I understand the rules is that you get the Primaris for the Slaaneshi Discipline free and it doesn't contribute to the whole 'not over half of your powers can be from the Slaaneshi Discipline'.

So with the ML3 you would get Sensory Overload and have a 1/3 chance at each of the others of which you can 2, leaving the last power to be taken from another Discipline (I tend to go for Malefic Daemonology in order to get a back up chance to roll Cursed Earth which can negate a bad True Names roll or provide daemonettes a 2++). My local meta having very few hordes and the fact I have a high number of sonic weapons and CC units in my army means I rarely find myself ever using Ecstatic Seizures when it's rolled.

On the other hand a ML 1 would give 1/2 chance of getting Hysterical Frenzy or Symphony of Pain, meaning I couldn't get stuck with Ecstatic Seizures. Both of these powers I use often but would mean I couldn't get both. This would allow points to be put into getting other abilities like Cursed Earth from Malefic or Acquiescence from Slaaneshi Daemon Psychic powers.

What do you guys reckon is the best way to go? ML3 Sorcerer or take those points and improve the ML of some Heralds of Slaanesh?

Well, I like maxing out my sorcerors..

Tho I would want to throw as many rolls as possible on telepathy, fishing for invisibility.

The best way to use a slaaneshi Sorcerer is by not taking the mark in the first place, so that way you don't have to roll on that table and you just take Telepathy.

Captyn_Bob and Slayer-Fan123, so basically when it comes to the Psychic phase to be competitive use Telepathy or don't bother?

I think I must play in a more casual meta than you guys.

I'm not sure how you're getting the 1/2 chance there. The WC of the power and your ML mean nothing when generating psychic powers. If you are ML1 and you roll a WC2 power, you are stuck with it. You can definitely cast a WC2 power as a ML1 sorcerer. The WC cost merely denotes the number of successes needed to cast the power, while the ML dictates the normal number of powers generated, how many extra dice you receive in the psychic phase, and for determining bonuses to deny the witch.

Not being able to use a WC1 power as a ML1 Psyker died with 6th.

Nothing wrong with the Slaanesh discipline. It's pretty much the best of the CSM disciplines, every power is good. But if you have a way of reducing your opponents Ld, then the Daemon powers are even better.

Telepathy, Biomancy, and Divination are what you stick with unless you're doing Summon Spam. MoS does nothing for the Sorcerer since the best weapon is the Axe, and you can focus on getting the Discipline focus bonus.
