Let's say I have a squadron of vendettas and I get them zooming in from reserves can i get them to start movement from different sides of my table edge and finish their movement in the middle in squadron coherency?

You must always maintain coherency.

I don't believe there's an explicit statement that units must be deployed n coherency, but we're clearly told that units must maintain unit coherency, suggesting that we must where possible try to keep them in coherency at all times.
When moving on from reserves you measure from the board edge, as if the models had been placed just off the table, so it seems to me we're meant to imagine the unit is in coherency before they come on from the table edge.

You do not have to "keep them in coherency at all times. " if this were true you could not move an infantry model more than 2 inches, and any vehicle that is a part of a squadron more than 4 inches.
As long as they are in coherency at the end of the movement phase, you are fine.

Maintaining at all times would make it impossible to move a Model more then 2 inches in front of the last guy, shuffling them forward....
So, once a unit has finished moving, the models

I think you guys are taking Mr. Shine a little TOO literally in this case.

I dont, he said:
Mr. Shine wrote:...we're clearly told that units must maintain unit coherency, suggesting that we must where possible try to keep them in coherency at all times...
So to try to keep them in coherency at all times would mean only being able to move infantry 2 inches at a time. Which is not correct.

I'm simply stating what the rules say; we're explicitly told to maintain unit coherency:
"Remember that all models in the unit must still maintain unit coherency."
Sure, the check is done once a unit finishes moving, but it's impossible by definition to maintain something as being to a given standard from a start point that is not to that standard. For instance, one does not maintain a motor vehicle in good mechanical condition if starting from a state of disrepair; maintaining in good mechanical condition can only be done from an existing state of good mechanical condition.
Obviously per RAW we've been doing it wrong all along as a sort of "Fast Movement" and we're actually strictly required to hobble all of our models along no more than 2" from each other at a time until we've moved up to each model's full movement, unit by unit.

Generally speaking coming in from reserves out of coherency and then moving into coherency would seem, on the surface, a pretty pointless thing to do. That is probably why it was never addressed in the actual rules.
However, any flyer squadron with bombs, dark eldar jet bikes with their fly-over attacks, and guard transport flyer squadrons(grav chute insertion), all bring up tactical uses for that lack of rules(my first thought last night was "what would be the point" until I realized each vendetta could drop a squad rather spread out via this hole)

Agreed, there are situations where it could be quite useful and is a very interesting question.
