Hey mates. Currently I am in the process of deciding what to do for my 40k army and I am currently debating between either staying regular Space Marines or going Grey Knights. However, while browsing through various forums, I remembered a solid list which involves the Flesh Tearers Formation, a lot of Drop Pods, and units of Purifiers, Strike Squads, or Purgation Squads in them supported by NDK's or Interceptors.

Has anyone or does anyone run this list anymore or should I go a different route if I decide to go with Grey Knights. Appreciate the help

Drop Pods being available to an army that WANTS to be close and doesn't have Drop Pods naturally?

The answer is that, yes, it is worth it.

Glad to hear it lol. However have you tested this list out yourself or have you seen it in action before? If so what units where used in this list and any suggestions? Would appreciate any advice you have.

I have seen people use 2 units fo 10 purfires jump out of 2 pods, combat squads and then quadruple CF, alongside centurions with draigo and librarians. Worked fine, but had no NDKs.

You'll know from your own games if drop pods and deep striking works for you in your meta, so I'll leave that decision to you.
Personal experience is mass deep striking never works.

If you want to try it, GK also have the option of using the Nemesis Strike Force to deep strike Terminators turn 1 - perhaps draw up a couple of lists with Purifiers in Pods vs NSF Terminators (backed by NDK, Interceptors etc)

I love drop pods and Incinerators just scream drop pods, you tend to get stuck at the place where you are dropped down. So its great vs gun lining or other static armies. But it is not that great vs things that tend to move a lot.

An other ting to consider is that you can't assault of of a drop pod, so in some situations you are better of using a landraider.

This tactic works, but not as good as just running as many terminators as possible and using the NSF.

Cleansing Flame hits anything, including FMC. I can just picture a Terminator trying to jump up and swat at a Flyrant....

NSF rules work with Pods...Because you're arriving from reserve in a POD. You can actually Drop, deploy, shoot and then run. OR Drop...Deploy...Run...Shoot...CF

Terminators just ignore FMC. Play the scenario.
