Hey mates. Currently after a bit of a Hiatus from playing 40k due to work and school reasons, I am looking yo jump back into the hobby and wanted to get my Space Marine Army up and running again. And to do that, I first plan to start from scratch and sell off any of the stuff I have. And with that being done, all I have would be 7x to 9x Drop Pods, 10x Tactical Marines, and a Converted Empeors Champion Model. That being said, I do want to run a Drop Pod Army as it brings a lot of tactical flexibility to a game, however biggest issue I am coming across is what paint scheme I should go with and what models should I use for my units. Currently had the idea to use a the Company Champion from the Command Squad Box Set as my standard Helmet for my entire army (Guys in PA at least) an I have been debating of doing a conversion using the Grey Knight PA bodies of the Strike Marines combined with those helmets. Do you think that would be a good conversion idea or should I stick with the tradition MK IV Bodies and Armor of the regular Space Marines?

As for the paint scheme, an obvious one would be the Black Templars, as it would fit the Crusader theme and the Knightly look as well. However I am open to exploring other options and if you guys have any suggestions on what a good paint scheme with these helmets or any conversions I would greatly appreciate it. Final option would be to use Forgeworld Models, however they really dont a have a Knightly looking Marine baring the Templar Brethern of the Imperial Fists. Thanks for the help.

I think it will be awesome, those helmets are very cool looking. Bodies I think you would be better off with the Dark Angel models because of the robes. I was looking at Crusade Knight colors, I think it will look good with those colors. White robes/tabards, Grey armor, and Red crosses!

I did a Inquisition army awhile ago based around this theme and it never got done and I sold it

I did consider the Dark Angel Models, as an option as well, and to make my guys look more Crusader like and assulty, I planned to use the Sanguinary Guard Bolters as my traditional Boltgun, that way I could model all of my guys with CCW's to fit the Crusader/Knight theme. Plus, been considering running a Drop Pod List with the BA Codex Flesh Tearers Strike Force rules, and run a real fluffy, Crusader themed list with there rules. Your thoughts? Paint scheme wise, I did consider a Gray Scheme, however I wanted to do something a bit different instead of the tradition Black and Red Crosses if that makes sense.

I would look at running twin Demi Companies for free Drop Pods since you have so many. You could have "Crusaders" with Bolters! Purge the Heretic with righteous fire!

A lot of different and cool things you can do. Look at trying to get some of the Legion of the Damned backpacks with the burning cup on the back for your Sergeants. Going to be an expensive endevour no matter what. Exciting concept though!

Appreciate the help. However I looked that the Templar Brethern from Forgeworld and I think that would make for an awesome Knightly Looking army and I love the paint scheme to go with it as well. Drew up 4x options and would appreciate the feedback on which one do you think works together the best. Only other thing I am considering referring to the scheme is making the Templar Cross on the right Shoulder Pad Black instead of white. Thoughts?
