Hey guys, I'm thinking about adding some Sabre defense platforms or Forgeworld artillery to my IG list. I'm confused as to which Imperial Armor book to buy in order to find the rules for adding it to a regular guard list? Also anyone have any experience or recommendations for using them in 7th edition?

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

You can use your sabre platform to hold an objective in your deployement zone, as they are fairly cheap and can sustain a little fire.
But keep in mind that they can only snapfire on ground target, IIRC, due to Skyfire.
Still a good unit, I think, it can put out a decent amount of AA for a pretty cheap cost.
There are the cyclops too, you can use them to protect your units from being assaulted (no one want to be in contact with theses little guys) or use them as counter-attack. if you place them near your gunline.
You can drop them from a Valkyrie (even if a cyclop fail a dangerous test, it still has an hp, so, there isn't really any risk), sprint and then explode in an opponent's unit.
A good old bombardment^^
The artillery platforms/carriages are known to be more powerful and cheaper than their vehicle mounted alternative, as they can receive orders IIRC again. But never used it TBH.
The tarantula sentry gun are another unit I want to buy and test: they are very cheap too, can be hidden easily (they are tiny/small) can buy camo netting, and are resistant.
A tarantula with lascannon and camo netting is less than 40 pts...
And the FW Manticore is just better than the GW's one (can has the same gun/armament if you want).
Keep in mind that is just my opinion, and I never used the most of the units I'm talking about^^ Just what I can figure out from the book and the Internet.

I've have Sabre defence platforms and Tarantula sentry guns.
The Sabre platforms have done pretty well and are quite tough for the price you pay.
The Tarantula Sentry Guns (heavy bolters) aren't worth it. Even with Camo net, they die too easily and aren't even worth it as road-blocks. I've switched out to Lascannons instead hoping that those will be at least a bit more effective as distractions with a little more threat.

Yeah, I always thought the lascannons would be better.
Thanks for sharing your experience !

Awesome, thanks guys. I found those rules and I think I'm getting some heavy art carriages so I can lob str 10 ap 2 ignore cover shots around. (Orders) I'm still on the fence about the sabres but who knows.
