I had a question about a decent starting set of units to make for four armies. I'll break down the thinking for each one but for each I'm asking because I'd prefer not to waste money and time on units that are utterly worthless. It doesn't have to be a definitive list or anything, mainly suggestions for a slightly decent range to build toward.

Space Wolves - True Scale
One of the things I've wanted to do for a while was make true scale marines. Since some friends play Kill team I thought it would be cool to choose the space vikings to be my test/army of true scale. For starting out I'd like to focus on making a decent kill team, but eventually expand it to either ally with the SoB or solo run it in mid points games (2000 or less). What are some decent units to use? Beyond painting and trying to make some cool looking models I don't normally play, but I would like to get into it for the social aspect primarily (and having a real reason to make the minis)

Sisters of Battle - Theme: Norse SoB
For my SoB I plan on custom making every unit. I want them to be Norse themed so a lot of runes and snow type of stuff. The types of units I should look at would be helpful as well as if they'd be useful to ally with Space Wolves. I also had some questions about the units themselves to get an idea of how I should make them.
The standard Sister is pretty straight forward, most all of their models are of them so the main questions regarding the units has to do with the Dominions and Celestians. How are they both different to the standard Sister? It seems like the Dominions are one of the more useful unit types and they're FA? For Aesthetics would having more armor, less armor? A specific type of armor/helm in order to make them appear different? For the Celestians (even though I guess they're pretty crap) would they merely be heavier armored Sisters? Also.... any ideas for what to do for a Norse sisters exorcist since the organ is not really in line with that theme...

Imperial Guard - Theme: Rogue Trader's personal army//mercenary troop
My idea for the Imperial guard would be a much more colorful army with less of the million models looking nearly the same. Potentially scratch building the vehicles to give them a more streamlined appearance to make them stand out as a group that isn't stuck to the ways of the standard imperium's way of doing things. Issue is, I've heard a lot of the IG stuff is near worthless, and since they're either a time sink (scratch built) or a money sink (buying new/scratch built depending) I'd prefer to know what would have potential before I invest.

Eldar - Theme: Exodites
For the Eldar I was planning on making them into an Exodite force. Having their wraith _______'s be treefolk or other more "natural" looking creatures. Perhaps mixing in tyranid bits for a more organic looking series of weaponry (such as the cannons etc). I'm not sure what units would be worth the time investing in honestly, I'd prefer to avoid the scatter bikes or whatever it is that is making people hate the Eldar, mainly since I really don't want to find a bunch of flying dinos to run as their bikes (and it'd be unfun for anyone playing)

If this didn't make much sense I can reword it at a later time, it's probably a bit vague but I am on break and wanted to get it down.

Get the Inquisition codex, and make a fancy-pants Jokaero-enhanced bling list. Shocktroops in Psycannon Landraiders ftw

Wouldn't it be Psybolt ammo upgrades on Crusader (so it covered the most weapons)? I think the Psycannon LR is from one of the imperial armour books. It could be entertaining perhaps, not sure if it would fit the theme or not since it'd be inquis instead of mercenary/rogue trader

Just call the Inquisitor a trader. The rules make more sense for a band of mercs and traders - the AM book is about tanks and line infantry, and doesn't work very well.

Fair enough, I don't really know the current meta since I haven't looked into playing much in the past 2-3 years. I was thinking aircraft and some troops primarily and having only lower points games (maybe 2k or 2.5k max) so there wouldn't be too many tanks/blobs.

I guess I can see where you're coming from, maybe I could scratch build a land raider to make it look more like a non Imperium vehicle (made with some xeno tech or something) and make everyone else look like a rogue trader's group.

I would recommend, out of the INQ book:

-Inquisitor (The Trader, kit him out with Power Armour, and something flashy)
-Vendetta (6-man transport, lascannon-spamming aircraft)
-20-30 IG models
-A couple of psykers
-A Jokaero (orang-utan in space)

Plus with the inquisition codex, for a meager 5 points, you get to upgrade a standard acolyte to an acolyte with a boltgun. Basically a guardsman with a boltgun for the same point cost.

All I see here is pure win, also taking into account that the inquisition chimera has 5 shooting points and costs 10 pts less then the IG chimera with it's useless lasgun arrays.

Only issue I see here is that you're going to need a lots of money for bitz and stuff to model the acolytes into a very different force, considering GW to lazy to make acolyte models.
