Hey, guys!
I am a beginner at the tabletop game, and always played as space marines, specially crimson fists and imperial fists, but yesterday I chose to try a different army. As I saw my buddy with an Imperial Guard cadians regiment ready to play, I decided to try out some of his Tau. The game was a Purge the Alien, so we had open war on the outskirts of Cadia (Most likely... Solar Mariatus?), as the Tau tried their luck on their progressive invasion in the direction of Cadia itself.
It was really great. I had a bad day and tried my luck playing with a friend. Ended up having a GREAT story and I feel so much better now. I can say I love warhammer even more after this game. If you are interested, here's a small briefing of the battle alongside some pictures!
It was a tough fight. Even though the Tau had the luck of one of the enemies' chimeraes having trouble with the stony terrain and three huge weapons baddies on their side, the Astra Militarium fought with tooth, nails and cunning, with their Leman Russ taking incredible ammounts of punishment and using shrouds of smoke to try to position themselves better. They were almost untouchable to the Tau.
It was only at turn FIVE that the first blood occured, as the Tau were effective at running away and evading human fire during the hard moments through the whole battle, and only at the final moments the commanders of the Imperial Guard were finally flanked, and bullets rained upon them. As they fell, the Tau systematically destroyed their remaining chimera and a small group of soldiers who tried to bring down the big bad boy (I can't remember this Tau Megazord name, so to me it's the megazord). Even with all those casualities, the imperial Guard fought on in the name of the emperor, and the remaining comissar got out of his wrecked chimera in order to try and bring down the Tau commander in a suicide charge. He brought down many of the filthy aliens, but was unable to shoot down his target, and watched as his group fell down to enemy fire, becoming the last man standing.
The Tau gave him true defeat as they told him to run back with his tail between his legs and tell his leaders that Cadia shall either be enlightened by the Greater Good, or it shall fall. The comissar went back, defeated, and war shall rain upon the cadian system again very soon...
