Random question, but has anyone thought about alternative minis to the Bugs, seeing as the original ones are long since OOP. I realize that Rebel Minis do some of the models (in metal?) and there's those neat papercraft bugs earlier in the thread, but are there other good alternatives?

There's plenty of generic sci-fi humans out there, so that's not an issue.

Not in that size. The Mongoose plastic Arachnids remain, to this day, some of the best and cheapest large scale plastic 28mm kits ever made. I can't imagine trying to field an Arachnid army solely using metals and resins.

@VermisMade:

I guess what I'm saying is that I don't like the movie arachnids or the roughnecks tv-show arachnids. I just don't like the basic design. I'd rather see something with a more traditional arthropedal layout, like:

Yes, it's Defiance Games, but the design is more insect for me.

I'd recommend getting a box of Warriors, a box of Blister/Blasters, and a box of Hoppers, and just going to town converting them. You'll have tons of weird torsos, limbs, mouth/heads, etc.

A bag of plastic toy insects would be your best bet - halloween stuff on clearance should give you plenty of spiders.
