So the main problem with Eldar tends to be:
- Wraithknights
- D proliferation
- Scat-bikes

... so why aren't we seeing more flyers back on the table?
None of those problem Eldar units are particularly effective against them, and some of the flyers out there can particularly ruin those units days. Plus, you don't often see Eldar players bringing much of their own flyers, so more often than not you'd have the skies to yourself.

Is there some other army's meta out there that would be a significant rock to the flyers scissors that I'm not thinking of?
(maybe new Tau?)

Because flyer spam isn't actually good. It tends to have less damage output compared to other armies and has trouble playing objectives

There is also the small matter of the Crimson Death formation. 440 points gets you two Crimson Hunters and a Crimson Hunter Exarch. The formation as a whole gets:
-Preferred Enemy (Flyers and FMCs)
-4+ Cover Save without Jinking
-rerolls to Jink saves

Keep in mind that Crimson Hunters have four S8 AP2 shots (two with Lance) that have Tank Hunter vs. Flyers and have Vector Dancer for superior maneuvering on the table. This formation is utter death to any and all flyers or FMCs. It'll even begin to threaten Imperial Knights with the amount of damage a Crimson Hunter can put out. The only reason you don't see it as often is because it costs so much to field; why bring three flyers that come in individually when you can bring a whole bunch of Scatbikers or some Wraithguard in an allied transport?

The Internet- where men are men, women are men, and kids are undercover cops

If you're wanting to beat Eldar all you have to do is go to Lowe's and buy a hammer.

Flyers could actually work well against Wraith Eldar lists, but the meta isn't going to be that heavily affected by half of one Codex's army. There are plenty of things that work extremely well against Eldar and aren't terrible against everything else - grav weapons, for one.

Be aware though, if they aren't scat-bikes, and go for lots of guardians, they may well have quite a bit of skyfire (all eldar missile launchers have AA missiles included.)

Unfortunately, the Starhawk missiles are only as powerful as a Flak Missile, i.e. not effective against flyers unless massed against poorly-armoured flyers. Guardians have better options for their weapons platforms than the EML.

Elysians could do it. Enough flyers to overwhelm the token Crimson hunter the opponent brings, and you have enough aircav troops to score well.

A number of reasons...
- Eldar Jetbikes are sufficiently fast that they can avoid most flyer for a significant portion of the game. Turboboost into their back arc and laugh as they spend 3 turns attempting to shoot something.
- Eldar Jetbikes are the king of scoring units, whereas flyers suck as scoring units.
- Scatter bikes (especially with prescience etc) can still spell death for AV10/11 flyers, T5-7 FMCs, and still potentially hurt AV12 flyers.
- The few flyers that eldar are possibly scared of come in armies that possess Grav.
- Heldrakes are awesome anti-jetbike but are part of CSM which are generally sub-par. You do routinely see a Helldrake allied in to Daemons though.

Played a team tournament at the weekend and our 5 flyer CSM list murdered everything, including an Eldar list with a Wraithguard Deathstar with Invis, Gate and Baharroth, a WK and four scatterbike units. It involved 2 Heldrakes, 3 Fire Raptors and a bunker with a comms relay. When it came up against the team with the 3 WK list they completely avoided it.

Interesting list. Did you bring Abaddon or the sorcerer with malefic to enable you to bring multiple Infernal Relics?

Sorcerer with Malefic as Abaddon is too expensive/not that good. I should mention that it was all EW missions and no Maelstrom. With Maelstrom missions it would no doubt fair less well although summoning can alleviate that to a degree. I think he's going to remove a couple of things and add a Dreadclaw.

SW would be OK at it too; obsec stormwolves are the truth and can put out some hurt with 3 TL s8 ap1 plus a TL las cannon packed with cheap power armor.

Cover might be an issue and this style of army might have a rough time with ravenwing, but you might be able to assault your way out of it if you put some serious superfriends in there.

Elysians are awesome. They don't need a hammer. They just use their massive steel balls to smash the other guy's minis.

In all honsety though, airborne guard can bring some pain with the ignores cover orders and concentrated firepower. Special shoutout to IA:3 desert fighters on triple plas veterans.

I have had decent showings against scat bike lists using a 3 Heldrake list... I chew them up pretty good... Unfortunately, that's a CSM army, so the rest of the list gets Pwn'd pretty good if they don't get on the board quick. CSM w/ Heldrakes has become mildly playable again when facing scat bikes and DA 2+ re-rollable jink ravenwing. Everything else crushes it.
