Hey mercury14, do the Corsair Reavers/Raiders (or whatever the basic Troop Infantry unit is now) still have lasers by default? Do they have Brace of Pistols instead, or can they replace one with the other?
Also, do they have any additional options over the old unit?

Thanks in advanced for any answers.

mercury14 wrote:
Anyway, Corsair Princes/Princesses all have their own dark little obsessions and *may* take one of the following paths at no cost:

A) Seeker of Forbidden Pleasures (aka The Drug Lord) - The Corsair Prince gains the Corsair Combat Drugs special rule and any unit in the same detachment (infantry/JP infantry, jetbike) may get Corsair Combat Drugs for +15 points per unit.

Corsair Combat Drugs (aka "those Dark Eldar Drugs just make my neck itch" list).
1) +1A
2) +1S
3) +1I
4) +1T
5) +1 WS
6) Roll for two drugs (!!!)

*waits to sober up*

B) Traveler of Forgotten Paths - The Webway Prince. Because walking is for chumps. The Prince gets a Multi-phase key generator and any other character in the detachment can get one too. So wtf is this thing?

Multiphase Key Generator - the model gets Deep Strike, something about carving the webway. In addition it may be activated during any shooting phase instead of shooting to open up a webway gate within 3" of the model. All your reserves can enter through it except not vehicles. If any of your guys are falling back within 3" of it, they can go in it and enter ongoing reserves.

C) Collector of Ancient Treasures - This is how the Prince can get a relic from CWE, DE, or Harlequins. Mask of Secrets maybe. Also any other character in the detachment can slap Master-Crafted on their weapon for 10 pts. It doesn't say it has to be a CC weapon.

D) Reaper of the Outer Dark - For the Prince that's really loves killing. The Prince gets Rampage and any unit in the detachment can get Rage for free. But whenever they're within 8" they *must* charge. If they killed a unit with shooting and have another enemy within 8" they get to (must) charge it.

E) Wielder of Profane Powers - This Prince picked up something that should have been left unfound. Gains +1 psychic ML, meaning they can be ML2. Must pick at least one Maelefic Demonology power and other psykers in the detachment get access to Demonology. When they peril, replace the 6 (remember they have their own perils chart as I posted) with:

Lust for Dark Power: The Prince went too far down the dark path (d'oh!). For the rest of the game at the beginning of every psychic phase the Prince must attempt a Malefic power using at least 2WC. If for some reason they can't, they get pinned automatically.

F) Survivor of Endless Darkness - For the geriatric prince 3000 years old who's basically a ghoul going around sipping elixers to postpone death. This prince is insane and nasty. Gains It Will Not Die but if he fails it, he crumples to the ground all withered and dusty (auto-pinned).

Any other units in the detachment can get FnP for +10 points.

Wow. There's more creativity and fluff here than in the entire DE codex.

Yes. Very sad and very true.

Reavers and Ghostwalkers still have lasblasters by default, as well as a brace of pistols. They can swap for splinter rifles or shuriken catapults for free. And other weapons 1:5 for a cost.

The only thing that is sad about it is that they didn't give the same treatment to the DE. Corsairs are pretty much our first encounter with the eldar in the game, it seems like they are getting a treatment they have deserved since they dropped off the face of the game prior to IA 11.

I second the request for the basic troop options. And I am seriously bummed if they can't take the EML, I have a ton of minis from the rogue trader era with the missile launcher that are going to fall into the abyss of again again if that is the truth :(

What can you remember about the voidstorm squad? Also, what are the corsair dedicated transport options?

I have almost 6000 points of corsairs, I HAVE to know what they do now!

Any information on the Wraithknights weapons/cost/utility?

2 Deathshroud Cannon or 2 Inferno Lances, or use a scattershield instead of a gun. No cost.

Deathshroud Cannon: (Focused) Hellstorm, S7, AP4, Heavy 1, Shred, Monofilament - (dispersed 48" S7 AP4, Heavy 1, Shred, Massive Blast, Monofilament
Inferno Lance: 36", S8, AP1, Heavy D3+2, Melta

And it as a Webway shunt thing. It's like big Warp Spider.

That's a lot of Corsairs, what warband?

Nobody has any info on the Voidstorm squad but some people say they heard on the open day that they're still in there. It's possible that they were transformed into the Malevolent Band. Personally I'm hoping they're in there and have the Shuriken cannon option, otherwise FW is selling Shuricannons and EML Corsair models that are illegal.

Reavers have the only reference to Dedicated transports. It says they may take a Corsair Venom if the squad is 5 or a Cosair Falcon "if the squad numbers more than five". I'm breathing a sign of relief because I have three of each painted up. I'm wondering if the Corsair Falcon has a transport Capacity greater than 6.

Also remember that with Kinetic Fields vehicles moving flat-out get a 4++ rerollable INVULN save vs shooting, meaning if you want to rush mech Corsairs you're going to be extremely safe while doing it. And you won't have to jink, meaning when it's your turn your transports disembark their units and fire at full BS.

Hombre, there are tons of options. More than Space Marines. Do you want me to type them all out? :O

EDIT: And I now see the Axe of Langnost or something, is that Bran Redmaw's weapon? If so then he lives.

Personal warband made up of several smaller factions led by a corsair prince who shares my namesake from a tzeench obliterated planet. They all use various tractor and lawn mower color pallets as an homage to my format career as a professional landscaper.

I originally got into eldar and didn't want ANY aspect warriors. Then I saw the corsair models from forgeworld, bought the imperial armour apocalypse two (turns out they weren't in it) and then doom of mymeara. I then spent the next several years converting and building up my army from various eldar kits because forgeworld kept telling me "in the next couple of months" they would get an update.

No idea how ecstatic I am it finally happened! Add in the fact that Bran Redmaw is my prefered wolf lord and it is all peaches and cream for me!

Thank you for posting!

Yeah I've been pestering FW for updates for like 1.5 years.

This codex honestly looks great. The only problem with it is that is makes Dark Eldar look terrible.

Someone in this book has a Wraithcannon. And the D-Cannon is in there so hopefully the typo with the Wraithseer isn't why it's there.... I wonder what has a Wraithcannon....

Out of interest, what do people think of 10pt Venom Blades?

They seem a bit pricey to me for 2+ poison, but I'd be interested to hear other peoples' thoughts.

Considering that most eldar/dark eldar melee units rely on drowning the opponent in high initiative attacks with a low chance to wound, making the characters able to wound marines as if they were strength 6 is pretty significant. Glad some of my voidstorm have that blade equipped already (was going to use it as a power sword)

So this multi-key webway. Can characters in the detachment take it for free? It only lists vehicles as unable to use it, unless you read it fast. Could a spider knight jump out from it?

Characters other than the prince have to pay +25 pts. The prince gets his for free though.

 Rypher wrote:

It has to be a unit from the same detachment. If spider knights can be taken by Corsairs then yes.

By the way, Reavers (basic corsair troops) can get Haywire grenades *each*. So they'll take down Imperial Knights in CC.

The Vampire Raider is in.

Corsair Falcon (cost: CW Falcon +5 pts)
- Stats: as per CW Falcon
- Has Scout
- Can either get TL lastblasters, TL Shuricats, or TL splinter rifle as the underslung gun for free - or pay +20 for a Shuriken Cannon or +10 for Splinter Cannon
- Pulse laser unchanged
- Secondary turret gun: Shuriken Cannon, Splinter Cannon, Scatter Laser for free. +5 points gets you your favorite shade of lance, Starcannon, or EML for +15

Corsair Venom (cost: -5 pts less than a Dark Kin Venom)
- Stats: as per DE Venom, no flickerfield
- Same underslung gun options as Falcon
- Top gun: pick shuriken cannon, splinter cannon, or scatter laser. No purchasable upgrades.
- Yeah it has scout too

Both the Venom and Falcon can take the following wargear: May take Void Burners for +5 (gains deep strike), star engines, Kinetic Shroud. Venom can take chain snares for +5.

Corsair Balestrike Band (cost: a wych)
- Heavy support slot
- Basic Reaver Corsair stat line, lastblaster, grenades, corsair abilities, wargear, Felarch, etc
- Can take Corsair Venoms and Falcons as dedicated transports.
- Any model can take the following: dissonance cannon, shuriken cannon for +10 (woot!), EML for +25 (argh wtf!), Dark Lance +15 (hellz yeah), splinter cannon +15

Remember if you buy them jet packs they can move and shoot heavy weapons, if not then you're going to be parking them for some of these things.

I can see the eml being worth the 25, as long as it has the skyfire option also. I knew they would make a "devestator" version of the corsairs

Also, yay for scouting transports! Do princes still have the voidstrike options?

The orbital strike is gone. It's gone into his beefy S4 fists!

The EML is way overpriced. Also the shuriken cannon on the bottom of the Venom is twice the usual cost.

They didn't have the option before, so I figure it is due to the shear destructive capabilities of that much strength 6 on a light transport.

Boo for lack of voidstrike, yay for str4 though. It will help my prince stand out above his contemporaries in the race.

I saw that the Baron has no independent character rule, do they get to join units like the mekboyz do for orks? (I had a felarch succeed on saving my corsair prince with a succession of "look out sir!" And then crazy lucky 6+ cover saves while taking fire from an autocannon. Wanted to give her a promotion)

Kinetic fields for vehicles. Are they super expensive? Right now, corsair venoms with scatter/las, deepstrike, and kinetic are looking great for dragons.

Got another one, do the corsairs count as craftworld eldar for the purpose of rules relating to them specifically. Such as the aura from the avatar of khaine, or more importantly, the benefit granted by the "cast of players" formation from codex harlequins.

They get attached to any Corsair unit in your army in a CAD (barons can't share a unit). In a Corsair Coterie they get taken as the HQ for one of your Coteries and have to be attached to one of their Cot's units. They get attached at the beginning of the game so you don't have to dedicate them when you're building your list.

Rypher wrote:Kinetic fields for vehicles. Are they super expensive? Right now, corsair venoms with scatter/las, deepstrike, and kinetic are looking great for dragons.

+15 points for Kinetic fields. I think that's a good price for what they do but they're less valuable on vehicles that you don't plan to deep strike or move flat out. They're great for Venoms and Falcons being used as transports but the cost will add up if you're using them in several places.

Different faction, same species.

I've been running a 4-5th edition based army for too long to be belittled for being happy about an update.

So should CSM not get a buff because Skyhammer is OP?

Doesn't make a lot of sense. Corsairs are decidedly not OP. Probably weaker than any main book faction. Including the much-lamented CSM and BA.

It is more like saying the imperial guard don't need a buff because space marines are good. Doesn't make sense.

I love what I am hearing so far, do the max units of the tanks get any benefit?

On the contrary, I think DE are very much in need of a buff. And, this is probably the next best thing to a new codex for them.

Corsairs are not a buff to Eldar, they're their own faction just like Dark Eldar or Harlequins are. There's a minor argument you can make here though, in that CW Eldar can take things like the Warp Hunter and that WK, and if your meta allows it, a buffed Revenant, but Corsairs themselves are their own thing.

And whoever said they're weaker than just about any core book, I highly disagree. I think this is a seriously competitive Army.
