I am happy with the corsair rangers. I always wanted to have mine as a troops choice for the corsairs, now here they are!

With all the t5+ around (bikes, thunderwolves, centurions, canoptic wraiths, wraith guard) and all the free medium transports from space marines I think snipers may find some work to do rather quickly...

Aren't longrifles fused to the body of ranger models? Any idea of how to convert them onto a corsair?

I am going to use my rangers for it, they're all outcasts too! I have some of the older rangers also, so when I mix the two the groups will appear to be more patchwork in armor and gear.

Is there any confirmation as to whether or not the corsairs still have the ability to purchase elites/ kabalites from their brethren armies?

Corsairs can no longer take elites/kabalites. They don't really need to given their expanded range of units and the ability to simply take an allied detachment or more in the current ruleset. After all, Reavers can take splinter rifles.

Ok, wasn't sure. Looks like I will run the aspect warrior host and wraith host formations to add my scorpions/ spectres and the wraith units I have. (Those are the only units I have that don't have a corsair equivalent)

Really looking forward to these corsair rules, it has been a dream of many, many years, as not a few people have said already!

Was wondering if anyone knows when you choose your Coterie Specializations -- during list building, or during warlord traits, or what. I think referring back to the Aspect Hosts, it would be at the beginning of the game, but you never know.

Also I just love the flavour of the Corsairs right now, with the pistols and the aggression, it is going to be a lot of fun.

Curious what the other heavy choices are -- I'm guessing Lynx + Warp Hunter + Bomber, anything else?

Cheers
Ibushi

wondering which will happen first. my buddy who is also restarting 40k with me commits, or the rules come out. Already have a lot of thoughts in mind for a Corsairs detachment. Also, sounds like I might get soem use out of one of my pathfinder squads as well.

ok, What does "brace of pistols" do?

Brace of Pistols give the model 2 Splinter Pistols and 2 Shuriken Pistols, iicr.

It's pretty much the single coolest basic wargear option in 40k:

2 shuriken pistols AND 2 splinter pistols (and no hands required!).

Thanks to Gunslinger (BRB rule), you can shoot two pistols in the shooting phase, so you effectively have a shuriken catapult or a splinter rifle, shooting at 12" assault 2.

Then, because you have so many freakin' pistols, you also get +1 attack in close combat.

All this fo' free as basic wargear, even for jetbikes.

Yes please!

All the models with it also have a "rifle" type weapon too. All the brace really does is give the extra ccw. They used to have that anyway, but this is a fluffy fun way to continue the trend. Well done forgeworld!

It also gives versatility, allowing units like Reavers to hurt tough MCs or have a better chance at killing AP2 models, leaving their lasrifle for squishier targets.

This is the first release in about 3 years that I'm actually excited about.

Yeah, when i read the small novel that is the Death Guard unit options and think about resolving the attacks from a melee-oriented min size death guard squad, the thing that springs to mind is "Accessible!"

You're not. If you're worried about your opponent using 'fake' rules, you're having fun the wrong way. This hobby isn't about rules. It's about buying Citadel miniatures.

I have some of that bottom left model, but you are basically right, they are fused to the bodies in some cases, including the latest models.

Though guards may sleep and ships may lay at anchor, our foes know full well that big guns never tire.

Lost in the warp while searching for a new codex

The Vampire fliers seems to be removed from forgeworlds homepage. Is this recent or have I just missed it?

I am pretty sure it is fairly recent, went looking for the raider and couldn't find it myself.

There are some pics in the forgeworld thread, I am not tech savvy enough to bring them over via phone :/

They were apparently posted somewhere called over my cold coffee, the poster didn't answer where that was...

I am not the same guy that posted in the forgeworld thread but here is the link. Totally bummed he didn't get pics of the troops.

Heartbreaking to see so much of the book from various sources and nobody has been able to say if the voidstorm squad definitely exists...

Had a question about the Phoenix bomber. Do the blast weapon upgrades replace the missile launcher still, or does it just add an alternate fire mode?
