Ive been running my two vindicators for a while now against my friends armies, mostly dark eldar. I am in process of buying some new units and was wanted a thrid vechile for my heavy support slot. What does dakka think? The rest of my army is two las plas backs, 2 dreads and a bunch of assault/ death company marines and a spare rhino I throw an assault squad in from time to time.

I don't know how good the Baal pred is, but adding it would introduce some variety into your arsenal, giving you options for play.

Besides you have built and painted two Vindicators already I imagine a third of the same would be less fun than something different.

Are you suggesting that there is anything better than a demolisher cannon?

Heresy! The demolisher cannon is supreme!

3000pts Blood Angels (4th Company) - 2000pts Skitarii (Voss Prime) - 2500pts Imperial Knights (Unnamed House) - 1000pts Imperial Guard (Household Retainers)

2000pts Free Peoples (Edlynd Fusiliers) - 2000pts Kharadron Overlords (Barak Zilfin) - 500pts Ironweld Arsenal (Edlynd Ironwork Federation) - 1000pts Duardin (Grongrok Powderheads)

Wargaming's no fun when you have a plan!

If you are already doing 2, might as well do 3. Redundancy is the name of the game.

3 demoilisher shots, can do plenty of damage.

It's 3 very scary units.

Sgt. Vanden - OOC Hey, that was your doing. I didn't choose to fly in the "Dongerprise'.

I personally think that hp have killed Vindicators. Because of the 24" range, Vindicators basically have AV 11, not AV 13. They just get HPed out by long range medium strength shots on their sides.

The Baal pred has exactly the same issue. Forgive me for saying, but this way you are not helping the OP.

My 2 cents, i would go for a third Vindi game wise. As above, for threat saturation and you can cover the whole game table with 3 vindis.
And you already have the 3-vindicator unit ready when the next codex drops

I've been looking at some similar options lately too. I have one Vindicator and one Auto/Las Pred which provides a nice mix against troops and vehicles. I love the Vindicators, and plan on putting more in a bigger list.

The Baal Pred isn't something I've been too impressed with, and like a lot of people have pointed out, it would be best served as an overcharged Fast Attack rather than a heavy support. It can hit some opponents very hard, but getting it across the board without getting blown up first is another challenge.

Although a little off topic, have you seen the FW Demios Laser Vindicator? 3x TL Lascannon shots at 48", and you can add overcharged engines if you really wanted to. I don't know if you're interested in FW, but I'm tempted to have one in my list as opposed to my Auto/Las Pred.

My only drawback with going all out Vindicator is that you run the risk of them becoming redundant after 3/4 turns when everyone is in combat. In one recent game, by the end of the second turn every unit on the board was in CC, putting my Vindicator out of the game for a while. Say you're going overcharged with a siege shield like I do, three would take up 420pts that could be doing nothing for half a game, and that's quite a lot to sink.

3,500 (and building) ASM
3,000 Blood Angels
1500 Eldar (abandoned)

AoS - Beastclaw Raiders, Ironjawz, Night Goblins, and Ogors - Destruction remains unvanquished!

The versatility is nice, but vindicator is too good to pass up, the more the better.

The answer is always a Sicaran. Two Vindicators with Overcharged Engines and a Sicaran with natural Fast complement each other very well. Throw on Lascannons on the Sicaran if you like too. It's a big threat on the table and will remove pesky things like units that Jink to survive a Demolisher strike.

If Forgeworld is an option obviously.

Depends on how your meta runs generally; in mine my predators do little, even if I get them in the right spot to put the hurt on (probably more due to my terrible rolling than anything). If you can reliably get the flamer Baal in position, you can annihilate most infantry outright. The AssCan and Heavy Bolters less so (at least in my experience).

I'd have to go with three vindicators honestly, with fast that's a 36" threat range with that sexy demolisher cannon - something people tend to forget when playing BA. Granted, you're going to pay through the nose but, it can be a nice surprise the first turn you get to shoot. Sadly, they corrected the oversight from the previous dex where you could take 2 stormbolters on it as ablative 'weapon destroyed' results. Now if you want more than a 50/50 you need to take the useless one-shot missile too.

The HK Missile isn't THAT bad. It isn't great, though.

Tech Marines are going to be advised, especially on a bike to catch up with them. Any strategy involving a vehicle rush offensively like that is gonna need them.

This. Any time you find yourself considering a Baal Pred, don't; the Sicaran is 100% better than the Baal Predator in basically every way. A Sicaran with the Battle of Sarosh Legacy of Glory is fantastic, and should compliment the two Vindicators nicely.
