So, we all see all the time people using these white dwarf characters, these formations exclusive to a bundle buy from games workshop, such as sky hammer... I'm honestly asking, where does games workshop or what dwarf say or give these for free, if at all? I know not all of these individuals bought the bundle, or own that white dwarf. I'm not ranting, I'm asking as I would like to use the forgotten knight, cohort mechanicus, war convocation, and I have friends wanting to use sky hammer, etc etc. if this is wrong information and they aren't available for free at all, please tell me that as well. Thank you for your time.

That's what was causing confusion. So I'm guessing that it's people printing off pdf, and taking these copies to tournies claiming they made the purchase and did not want to damage their original? Of course, there is no way to disprove such a statement, so therefore just accept it?

As long as the person on the other side has a copy of the rules he/she is using i honest;y don't care were they came from. We live in the internet age, such things will happen.

they arent and of the ones you listed only one is still for sale. ill break down the current ones that are exclusive in some way

the following are white dwarf exclusive rules you must own a white dwarf issue to use:

ork looted wagons
crimson fist/black templars chapter tactics alternate warlord traits tables

the following are only found via a one time exclusive formations bundles:

mechanicus war convocation
imperial knight baronial court
skyhammer annihilation force

the following are exclusive to warhammer world in rules and/or models:

space marine command tanks
blood oath campaign supplement (grey knights, imperial knights (baronial court is also in here under a different name but its the same formation), ultramarines, khorne daemonkin)

the following people think is exclusive and actually isnt:

gerantius the forgotten knight - contrary to popular beliefe he isnt exclusive despite the white dwarf issue cover saying otherwise, he can be found inside the stormklaw campaign supplement book

and none of the above is available somewhere for a cheaper price than the asking prices of at least the white dwarf's or the campaign supplements. if your playing in your basement and you can find a reliable image set of the the formation or item in question go right ahead and use it but tournaments and store events will only take the real McCoy im afraid, as will some overly serious players. NOW this being said games workshop has a holiday calendar of releases every winter holiday season that runs from december 1 to jan 1 and usually in there they include formations and such and it wouldnt surprise me at all if they simply copy paste some of these formations and rules into there because its easy to do and they know it will sell well (like in the case of skyhammer) so all is not lost and you might find the rules for cheaper down the line. the average price of a new formation is usually only like 3-5 bucks varying on its size (as in number of kits involved in getting one togeather) and how much they feel they can get for it.

Google is your friend. Especially in the case of Skyhammer. Anyone just wanting to look up an image of it has access to the rules since one of the results is a blown up picture of the rule card. Some people are against this and demand a legitimate piece of paper-like substance with the rules printed on them, but that is a Pay2Win attitude. Everyone but 2000 people have equal access to google so equal access to the rules. Just know that some folks aren't going to be happy unless you paid for them.

Following the rules for this site, no they are not available for free from a legitimate source. But, everything is on the internet somewhere. My favorite instance of this is for Vrosh Tattersoul, the exclusive model in Dark Vengeance. I once found his rules perfectly scanned from an ebay auction picture. They're out there. You can also buy older White Dwarf magazines digitally, so you still have the option of buying some of these exclusives too.

Best answer and is what I wanted. One correction, the baronial court is in the imperial knight codex, it's the exalted court of house Terryn that's exclusive. But thank you very much for all of that input!

Battlescribe has all those formations, and its free.

Yes it does, I was just looking for a legit copy of the formation as one of my opponents is the kind that demands a legit copy, and I was wanting to use some of these amazing things

GW is some rediculous business practices, especially after the Chapter House fiasco. They create hard to acquire rules fir easy to acquire models, claim they are a model company not a game company despite the word Game being in the name, yet seem to panic went no one buys their models. Its almost as if their clients are gamers that buy the models to use with the rules that are publish. You'd think GW would, you know, make their rules easier to acquire?

While these formations are exclusive, and in the case of some of the formations limited to a stupidly low number, you can generally make do with images off of the internet.
