Subject: [2000] - CSM - Nurgle Zombie tide
|
 |
Khorne Veteran Marine with Chain-Axe
|
Hello everybody,
I have been collecting CSM for some time now and after a long warhammer 40k break I decided to make a Nurgle list with Typhus as the main star of the show. I haven't played a game in a long time and I was wondering if this list would work in 7th edition at all. All tips and critisism are more then welcome.
Iám trying to make a semi-competitive nurgle themed 2000 armylist. I like the idea of a big green wave moving in on the enemy and being a very in your face army. My idea was to use small squads of plague marines for taking enemy objectives while riding around in rhinos shooting from the hatches. Typhus will walk with 20 zombies and act as a major speed bump for fast enemies. The other 10 zombies will come in from reserve later and will sit on my objective if needed. The spawn and the sorcerer will move out and go for high priority targets and draw away fire from the three rhinos with plaguemarines. My plan was to keep the spawn around the sorcerer to protect him. The Obliterators and the heldrake will provide supporting fire and also provide some anti air firepower. The mayhem pack of three Helbrutes will deepstrike in where the enemy least expects it or where the sorcerer needs assistants.
I would like advice on tactics or the list as much as possible.

It's a good list but I suggest you take a look at Imperial Armour 5 second edition if you want to have the most competitive nurgle marine/zombie list.

The only problem is Typhus and the Zombies are not very good. Typhus is a melee unit that is terribly inept at getting into melee, and even inside melee I dont know if he earns his keep with a cost that high compared to a Chaos Lord. Plus his magic is just meh.
Zombies are a tarpit unit... that isnt very resilient despite having a FNP roll. At tough 3 they get instant deathed way too easy. Especially bad vs Stomps, templates, and blasts. Plus they are awful at actually killing anything. And they cant shoot...
But if youre gonna do it, you should probably run even more zombies. Maybe put Typhus and Zombies in a Landraider to actually reach a target? The suggestion above of a better Zombie codex is true. I think 2 exist for Chaos.
Also why VOTLW on the single Oblits? Just throw away points?

It is illegal to run VOtLW in this list. He is using the Crimson slaughter suppliment

H.B.M.C.- The end hath come! From now on armies will only consist of Astorath, Land Speeder Storms and Soul Grinders!
War Kitten- Vanden, you just taunted the Dank Lord Ezra. Prepare for seven years of fighting reality...
koooaei- Emperor: I envy your nipplehorns. <Magnus goes red. Permanently>
Neronoxx- If our Dreadnought doesn't have sick scuplted abs, we riot.
Frazzled- I don't generally call anyone by a term other than "sir" "maam" "youn g lady" "young man" or " HEY bag!"
Ruin- It's official, we've ran out of things to talk about on Dakka. Close the site. We're done.
mrhappyface- "They're more what you'd call guidlines than actual rules" - Captain Roboute Barbosa
Steve steveson- To be clear, I'd sell you all out for a bottle of scotch and a mid priced hooker.

You are right about the VOTLW and i wil remove it it is useless and was just something that stuck around from when i used them in a group of 3.
I see your point about the zombies and Typhus but this is the whole reason i made this army i love Typhus lore and look. The idea of zombies in a 40k universe makes me very happy. I guess it is not the most competitive but is here to stay. I tried larger groups of zombies but i find that 20 zombies is a large enough number to survive and get Typhus acros the board.
I do own a land raider but I don't really like the huge point cost for it.

Totally undertsand about "play what is fun" I just was offering my opinion as a CSM player, who, wishes my codex was better ha. So I do my best with what I have available.
As for the Landraider...well...Typhus is Landraider expensive without being much use when I used him. I would suggest remaking Typhus yourself, using his model but ran with the Chaos Sorcerer rules.
Also, now this is a big one, you could try and run blobs of Zombies as your Chaos Spawn. Throw like 2-3 guys on a Beast base and pow blammo! You have "Zombies" that are worth something.
This is a lot of count as advice and some people dont like that, and fair enough, but half the fun is using the models we like and if they are strapped with bad rules Im inclined to work around that.
So just for fun I made my own Typhus in Bscribe
Sorcerer
ML 3
MoN (sadly locks one power into Nurgle Lore but roll on Biomancy or Telepathy for the rest)
Combi-Melta (call this the Destroyer Hive stand in)
Force Axe (good count as for the Scythe)
Termi Armor
Spell Familiar
Blight Grenades
Sigil of Corruption
and still less points than Typhus by about 30 and way better magic options imho, but yes you lose some WS, 2 Wounds, and FNP and the zombies. But the zombies as I say are just not good for my style. Just an idea to share and by no means the "right" way.

HA I really like your way of thinking and to be honest never thought of doing that, you gave me a lot to think about. I like the Typhus as sorcerer idea not a big fan of the zombie spawn idea hehe but i like the creativity you showthere.
Iám really happy with how my spawn looks accompanied by a spawn sorcerer on a bike .

Wow thats amazing stuff. Great job on the models. That biker is awesome!
I am holding onto my Typhus in hopes that the new Codex makes him something special haha. But glad I could help a little.

I wonder what you all think would be the ebst way to play the sorcerer biker. I was thinking of rolling on the telepathy psychic powr table and hope for shroud and or invisibility. Also thinking of trying out biomancy.
Any other thoughts on this issue?
