For the work or geography blocked, an Indiana woman called Ms Carter was out shooting and put her 12 bore shotgun down on the ground without making it safe, then stood in front of it. The dog, a chocolate labrador named Trigger, stepped on the trigger, causing the gun to go off and shoot the woman in the foot.
No very serious damage was done, but Ms Carter now urges all would-be shooters to complete a safety course (unlike her.)
Don't give the doggie treats...bad things are bound to happen.
Its our way, the Dog Way.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.
It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion. By the juice of the brew my thoughts aquire speed, my mind becomes strained, the strain becomes a warning. It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion.

Don't be "That Guy" in Afghanistan. Cut loose with a SAW and opted out a attacking dog. Through and Through and one round came back from hitting a rock and pierced his hand. Purple Heart received from taking fire from a Taliban dog Guy was from 173rd

This is why we can't have nice guns. Or dogs. Or dogs with guns!
Almost every firearm will have a safety feature, and the one on this firearm should have been engaged - as well as the one between the ears of the owner.
I would be very interested in how a dog manages to fire a shotgun by "stepping on it". The dog must have been pawing at it or something. I can't imagine how just "stepping on it" would cause a discharge.
Hunter safety courses are mandatory before you can get a license in Michigan and are usually full of kids. I was the only adult taking the course when I did it
