Read the free DL rules from FW. It says it act as the regular ion shield and in addition it grants a invul save in cc; pretty obvious to me. What part is confusing?

Guess I'm just dumb? Was curious because I had someone arguing it does cc only.
Iirc It works in close combat in exchange for not being able to cover it's rear armour facing
